Historical Note
The Alexander M. Bracken Library is the main library for Ball State University and serves students,
faculty, and community members. The library is home to 2.3 million books, periodicals, microforms,
audiovisual materials, software, government publication maps, musical scores, archival records, and other
information sources. The library also houses offices for the Center for Middletown Studies and Unified
Technology Support. Bracken Library is third home to the library, replacing what is now North Quad
when it was completed in 1975 and officially dedicated in 1976.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes planning documents, exhibit materials, publications, lectures, and newsletters
from Ball State University and the Friends of the Bracken Library in Muncie, IN ranging from 1966 to
2013 regarding the Alexander M. Bracken Library.
