Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History
David Costill serves as the director emeritus of the Ball State University Human Performance Laboratory
where he has worked since 1966. Professor Costill's research in the Health Sciences have provided major
contributions to the field of health science. Costill has been often called a legend in his field and was one
of the first to apply scientific methods to the study of excercise and training. He has published hundreds
of professional papers and received a plethora of awards for his work. He holds a PhD in physical
education and physiology from Ohio State University ('65) and a MS degree from Miami University ('61).
Scope and Contents
This collection includes published writings, grant proposal materials, professional awards, collected
articles and newsclippings on Prof. Costill and a selection of his personal annual reports ranging from
1962-1985.
