During October 2013 visits passed the 1 million mark for the only time during the year. This coincided with a significant uplift in NHS Choices traffic overall. Since the start of the New Year, visits have been back above the 1 million mark, with peak visits of 1.2 million being recorded in March 2014. The most visited area of NHS Choices for information relating to long term conditions is 'treatments and conditions', with a 73% share. The 'NHS England' content section is another popular area for long term conditions, with information about health costs being of particular interest. Over the reporting period visits to the long term conditions planners, which offers advice on preventing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and dementia totalled 389,897, which accounted for 4% of all long term conditions visits. The most visited long term condition between March 2013 - March 2014 was type 2 diabetes with over 2.5 million visits. Other popular long term conditions included asthma with 1.5 million visits and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with 1.1 million visits.
