1 Summary of CSBS Graduate-Level Curriculum Proposals - 2016 Curriculum On Sept. 16 the Graduate College Curriculum Committee (GCCC) reviewed the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Graduate Curriculum Packet (except already approved ANTH 4010/5010). The entire packet was approved (pending any changes noted in GCCC minutes) by the Graduate College. Summary of Changes for CSBS 1) Geography: automatic drop of 3 seldom/never offered classes 2) Sociology/Anthropology/Criminology a. Anthropology: automatic drop of 1 seldom/never offered class b. Criminology: automatic drops of 4 seldom/never offered classes; 3 other dropped courses, and edits made to description of 1 class. c. Sociology: automatic drops of 2 seldom/never offered classes; edits to the title and description of 2 classes; 2 new classes: SOC 3175/5175 and SOC 4035/5035. 3) History a. History MA: non-thesis option added for existing Public History Emphasis. History MA already had both a thesis and non-thesis option, but only the thesis option was previously available to those with public history emphasis. b. automatic drops of 2 seldom/never offered classes; edits to titles and/or descriptions of 7 classes; 1 new class HISUS 4190/5190. Has been taught several times as experimental course. 4) Psychology a. Psychology MA – automatic change to major due to drop of seldom/never offered courses. b. automatic drops of 6 seldom/never offered classes; edits to 5 classes, including credit hour changes for 2; 1 new course: Psych 6418: Internal Clinical Practicum. Students currently sign up for this experience by enrolling in readings. This new class is to clarify the process. 5) COUNS-MA Major in Counseling: internship requirement going from 3 to 6 hours to be in compliance with accreditation requirements. 3 hours cut from electives. No change to hours needed for the major. 6) Social Work a. MSW Major in Social Work - added and eliminated courses in the concentration areas. Total hours for major are unchanged. b. Automatic drop of 3 seldom/never offered classes; dropped 4 other classes; removed graduate designation from 6 classes; edits to title and/or description of 4 other classes; 4 new classes proposed: SW 6246; SW 6247; SW 6261; SW 6299 (common course number).
