Avocent® products continue to address data center customers’

network operations center personnel demand secure, remote data
center management and out-of-band management of IT assets from
anywhere in the world. The Advanced Console Server 6000 provides
secure-switched console access to network devices such as servers,
routers and switches in the event the network is down or devices
become unresponsive.
Another significant consideration in data center management is the
control and monitoring of power distribution to data center devices
at the rack level. Avocent® has designed the console server to integrate effortlessly with the Avocent® Power Management Distribution
Unit 1000/2000/3000 and Server Technology Sentry-Switched PDUs
to provide remote management, monitoring and rebooting directly
through the Advanced Console Server 6000 interface.
Solution Overview
In the event that a device managed by
the Advanced Console Server 6000 and
integrated PDU becomes inaccessible
or unresponsive, pressing CRTL + P from
within the console server interface window
brings up the Power Management Utility
interface window. From this menu, the
administrator can check PDU status,
control on/off functionality, lock or
unlock the outlet and reboot the device.

The Avocent® Advanced Console Server 6000 provides full power management integration with the Avocent® Power Management
Distribution Unit 1000/2000/3000 and Server Technology Sentry PDUs while providing best-of-breed, secure serial console access.
Seamless integration between serial device administration and power management provides customers with a complete BusinessCritical Continuity™ solution. Further integration with Avocent® DSView™ management software and Avocent® Rack Power Manager
provides a “single-pane-of-glass” management of devices globally across the enterprise data center. Rack Power Manager allows the
data center managers to access power utilization data with granularity down to the outlet level.
Fully-Integrated Power Management
Integrated on, off and reboot power management is available directly
through the Advanced Console Server 6000 WebUI, DSView™
software and Rack Power Manager.
• While accessing a device through SSH, pressing CTRL+P opens
the Power Management Utility, providing a full set of power
management options.
• The Advanced Console Server 6000 supports these features with
the Power Management Distribution Unit 1000/2000/3000 as well
as the Server Technology Sentry PDUs.
