Dear Office of International Programs, International Experience Funding Committee, I would like to share my insights on attending 15th Workshop on Graph-based Representations in Pattern Recognition between May 13-15, at Beijing, China. The workshop was held in Beijing, China, for the first time in this workshop's history being held outside of Europe. GbR workshop has always been a meeting place for the leaders of the pattern recognition community to exchange ideas and better know each other. This year was no exception. I had the privilege of knowing leading professors in the field in person, such as Prof. Marcello Pelillo, Luc Brun, Andreas Fischer, and many others. The keynote speech from Prof.Pelillo was specifically worthy of attending. Meeting fellow PhD students from all over the Europe was another good aspect of joining the workshop. Feeling the dynamism that they have in the first place was an invaluable experience. During the three days of the workshop, there had been several valuable presentations that I benefited from. As for my own presentation which was titled “Multilayer tree matching using HSTs”, I took a lot of positive feedback both from the professors and fellow students. Question and answer session of my presentation was beneficial for me to gain further insight on future research directions. Another good aspect of this meeting was that several researchers asked for me to share my code with them, which I and my adviser Prof.Shokoufandeh was already planning and working on for some time. Making the code publicly available will not only make our research widely known, but also make our Drexel in general and our newly formed College of Computing and Informatics in specific more visible in the community. Overall, I personally benefited a lot by attending this workshop both in terms of the experience that I gained and the people that I had the privilege to meet. I am quite sure that the bridges that were set during the workshop will serve me and our department in the years to come. Once again, I would like to thank the Office of International Programs for financially supporting me for attending this workshop. Sincerely, Yusuf Osmanlioglu Graduate Student Department of Computer Science College of Computing and Informatics
