Summer
Pre-College
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
When Tom spent two
weeks of his summer
at Marist’s campus in
New York, he lived in
a dorm, took a class in
Criminal Justice, and
traveled to Albany,
New York to meet
members of the FBI.
But Tom is, in fact, not
a college student; Tom
attended the Summer
Pre-College program
before he even began
his senior year of high
school.
Is it really possible to have a safe and orderly society and protect individual rights
and freedom? Does the court system provide equal justice for everyone? Can the
police really keep our streets safe? Marist’s Pre-College Criminal Justice Program
is a summer academic program exclusively for rising juniors and seniors in high
school. During your time here, you’ll learn from experienced professionals and
talented faculty, while spending 14 days in the heart of the historic Hudson River
Valley. You’ll make new friends and maybe even discover what you want to be
when you grow up. Think that’ll happen at a summer job?

Campuses” by the

It all starts with policing where the law is honored and protected. Our court
processes determine if and what punishment is warranted. A diverse system of
corrections carries out the courts’ sanctions. While exploring these topics, students
will visit various law enforcement agencies such as local and state police, county
courts, district attorney offices, and a correctional facility. Students will get a
chance to connect with Marist graduates in the Criminal Justice field, a first-hand
look at Police Academy training, visit the FBI Offices in Albany, test their skill
with a firearms training simulator (FTS),
and even a demonstration from a K-9
Unit. This course will strengthen your
position as an informed citizen who

“Overall, the program at Marist
was more than what I thought it
would be. I learned so much about
a topic I’m interested in and might
want to pursue as a career. I got a
