The Gamma Mu chapter was founded at Ball State Teachers College on June 10, 1950. The sorority is casually referred to as Alpha Chi or A-Chi-O, its colors are scarlet red and olive green, its flower is the red carnation, and the local chapter’s symbol is the golden lyre. Ball State University's Indiana Theta Alpha Colony arrived on campus in the Fall of 2009. The fraternity is governed by the Interfraternity Council. The fraternity's nickname is A-T-O, its colors are azure and old gold, the group's symbol is the Heraldic Cross Pattee, and its flower is the white tea rose. The local chapter goes by the nickname Theta, its colors are black and gold, its symbol is the kite, and the Theta's flower is the black and gold pansy. Other Indiana chapters can be found at Butler University, DePauw University, Hanover College, Indiana University, and Purdue University.
