Administrative History
The Indiana Online Libraries User Group (IOLUG) was founded in 1982 as an organization for the
purpose of furthering the use of online systems, databases, computers and telecommunication systems
in libraries. Membership is open to all individuals interested in electronic information access systems.
Members include public libraries, school media specialists, information managers, and more.
IOLUG`s objectives are to provide a mechanism for communication with database producers, search
services, telecommunication networks and other producers of electronic information products and
services, concerning the needs of its members. To cooperate with other appropriate organizations. To
publish items such as newsletters and other documents useful to its membership and others. To provide
continuing education opportunities on electronic information access topics.
IOLUG`s activities include Fall and Spring one-day programs or workshops. Recent topics have included
web-based instruction, copyright issues, wireless computing, web page design, digitized reference, and
other projects which promote the use of online systems, databases, computers and telecommunications for
libraries.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes articles of incorporation, constitution and by-laws, newsletters, meeting reports,
workshop documents, and financial records from the Indiana Online Users Group (IOLUG) in Indiana
ranging from 1977 to 2013 regarding the organization and its activities.
