Summer Pre-College FASHION RETAILING When Marykate spent two weeks of her summer at Marist’s campus in New York, she lived in a dorm, took a class in Fashion Design, and visited New York City to meet with industry professionals. Expand your academic and creative aspirations! Marist’s Summer Pre-College is a summer academic program exclusively for rising juniors and seniors in high school. During your time here, you’ll learn from experienced professionals and talented faculty, while spending 14 days in the heart of the historic Hudson River Valley. You’ll make new friends and maybe even discover what you want to be when you grow up. Think that’ll happen at a summer job? Do you have what it takes to become a fashion retailer? Are you interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry? If yes, then the Marist Summer PreCollege Fashion Retailing Program may be perfect for you. The curriculum is taught by faculty of the highly regarded Fashion Program at Marist, who all have extensive experience in the fashion industry and related fields. In addition students will gain a better understanding of all the aspects that play a role in creating the retail industry. They will develop a strong understanding of retailing principles and practices and ultimately learn how to make strategic decisions in order to capture consumers. Students will also have the opportunity to take field trips to New York City to visit fashion retail locations, buying offices, and attend discussions with fashion business professionals who will offer insight into 2016 Dates: career opportunities available today in July 10 - 23 retailing. The campus is bordered by the Hudson River on the western side and a lush 15-acre arboretum and hiking area on the northern end of campus. Understand how to identify target markets, trading areas, and consumer behavior. Gain knowledge into all of the elements that encompasses a retailer’s total image positioning. Explore how emerging global retailers and the growth of Omni-channel retailing is shaping the current retail landscape. Resume Building Students can boost their resume (and their career) by attending a 3-credit college class before they finish high school.
