Edition 2009 ARACIT® DA - Preserving agent for soaking and short-term preservation of fresh hides Features ARACIT® DA is based on organic sulphur compounds. ARACIT® DA is effective in the pH range 6 - 10. Handling: Avoid contact with the skin and wear a dust mask during weighing out. ARACIT® DA must not come into direct contact with strong acids or alkalis, since this could give rise to volatile toxic fumes. CLOSE SACK TIGHTLY AFTER USE AND STORE IN A DRY PLACE. Storage stability: Can be stored for about 2 years (from date of production) if kept in a dry place and protected from heat above 30°C. Benefits ARACIT® DA is an odourless preserving agent with an excellent bacterial effect. ARACIT® DA is rapidly absorbed by the hide surface and provides durable preservation (sustained release effect). ARACIT® DA is compatible with all soaking and unhairing agents. ARACIT® DA is suitable both for the short-term preservation of fresh hides and for use in the short and overnight soak. Application Fresh hide preservation: Prior to the preservation a short wash should be applied to remove blood, dung and dirt. Preservation: 100.0 % water, 20 °C 0.3 % ARACIT® DA (based on fresh weight) run for 1 hour, then run for 1 minute every 2 hours. Preservation period up to 3 days. If the hides are to be preserved for a longer period, 0.1 % ARACIT DA must be added for every further day (e. g. for 5 days preservation, 0.5 % ARACIT® DA in total, fed once at the very beginning). Maximum preservation period is 7 days. It is also possible to treat the fresh hides in the drum for one hour and then remove them. If so, however, the hides should be prevented from drying out during storage (risk of scud fixation). Soaking: (fresh and salted rawstock) 0.05 - 0.1 % ARACIT® DA for a short soak (4 - 6 hours) 0.10 - 0.2 % ARACIT® DA for overnight soaking In the case of dried raw stock the dosage of ARACIT® DA is higher. 1 Our application recommendations are in line with our present state of knowledge.
