Summer
Pre-College
SPORTS COMMUNICATION
When John spent
two weeks of his
summer at Marist’s
campus in New York,
he lived in a dorm,
took a class in Sports
Communication,
studied sports media,
and spoke with
industry professionals.
But John is, in fact,
not a college student;
John attended the
Summer Pre-College
program before he
even began his senior
year of high school.

Campuses” by the
Princeton Review.
Expand your academic and creative aspirations! Marist’s Summer Pre-College
is a summer academic program exclusively for rising juniors and seniors in high
school. During your time here, you’ll learn from experienced professionals and
talented faculty, while spending 14 days in the heart of the historic Hudson River
Valley. You’ll make new friends and maybe even discover what you want to be
when you grow up. Think that’ll happen at a summer job?
Do you stay up late writing for the sports section of your school paper? Are you a
sports television junkie who wants to learn more about the networks you watch?
If so, then consider attending Marist’s Sports Communication Institute housed
in Marist’s highly-regarded School of Communication and the Arts - one of the
only schools in the country to offer dedicated study in sports communication.
Spend two weeks with our talented and experienced faculty to explore topics
such as story development from idea to press, the role of sports marketing, and
the impact of sports media on society. Students will get hands-on experience with
sports reporting and have a chance to
ask questions of and interact with sports
media professionals who are happy to
share their experiences.

“Overall, the program at Marist
was more than what I thought it
would be. I learned so much about
a topic I’m interested in and might
want to pursue as a career. I got a
good sense of what college life is
like and met great people. I can’t
think of a better way I could have
