Aalto University School of Science consists of disciplines traditionally linked with technology: applied
physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering and industrial engineering and management. For
all international students the School offers a considerable number of high-quality courses in English at the
master or doctoral level of studies. Currently the School of Science also offers ten international Master's
programmes. Over 3000 graduate and 1000 postgraduate students study in the nine teaching and research
units of the School. The number of international students is close to 500.
The extent of the courses is given in ECTS (= European Credit Transfer System) credits. One credit
corresponds to 27 hours of work, including lectures and other forms of instruction, exercises, seminars and
independent work at home and in the library. The scope of a course can be 1-15 credits depending on the
content of the course.
