Welcome to the 2013‐14 school year! I’m June Atkinson, State Superintendent of North Carolina Public Schools. We know that our challenges are greater and that our resources are fewer. Yet we continue to make progress, thanks to our teachers, principals and all who dedicate their time and talents to the students of North Carolina. In fact, we now have the highest graduation rate in our history – nearly 83 percent. Your hard work and dedication serve as an inspiration to me and everyone who cares about North Carolina and its future. Thank you, and have a wonderful school year!
