Roster Verification Process in Motion With student growth now a component of the NC Educator Evaluation System, it is critical that student-‐teacher data links are accurate. During the 2012-‐13 school year, the Department of Public Instruction is launching a new roster verification process that will ensure that teachers are accurately linked to the students they teach. Roster Verification is a way for teachers who provide instruction in courses/classes where an EOG, EOC, CTE exam or Common Exam is administered to verify their class roster(s) and indicate their responsibility for a student’s instruction. The Roster Verification window opened for teachers last week. Resources are available to assist principals, teachers and district administrators with the Roster Verification process. They include virtual training sessions, quick start guides, FAQs, sample scenarios and videos. These resources are available online at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/effectiveness-‐model/roster and on the SAS EVAAS website at http://ncdpi.sas.com MORE INFO: Robin McCoy, Standards and Assessments, robin.mccoy@dpi.nc.gov Keep Up with All the News on Home Base If you've not yet read or started receiving the e-‐newsletter "Home Base Biweekly Update," with the latest on the suite of technology tools rolling out for the 2013-‐14 school year, here's a taste of what you missed last issue: • Home Base Regional Training dates were listed for all eight regions with training occurring in the June 26-‐July 2 timeframe; • For those ready for a bit of self-‐learning, specific Mastery in Minutes lessons (3-‐5 min. each) were listed for both Classroom Instruction and for Assessment; items like Creating a Lesson Plan, Creating an Express Test, Linking a Resource to an Existing Unit and Creating a Student Group (access to all that and more is through PowerSource which requires use of your login); • For NC WISE users now transitioning to PowerSchool, instructions were shared on "tagging duplicate students.” Read about those items and more in the April 26 edition (Issue 7) of Home Base Biweekly Update; all seven back issues are archived here: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/homebase/updates/biweekly/ To subscribe to the Home Base Biweekly Update, please visit https://sites.google.com/site/homebasebiweeklyupdate/subscribe-‐to-‐enewsletter IN CASE YOU MISSED IT READY Virtual Meetings: One Opportunity Remains Don’t miss out! More than 16,000 educators from across the state already have participated in the Spring 2013 READY Virtual Outreach Meetings. This third round of READY Outreach Meetings uses virtual meeting tools to continue the conversation and information sharing. All three Home Base meetings have been presented, but you have one more opportunity to participate in the Accountability/Assessments virtual meeting. (NOTE: the Home Base archived virtual meeting is available at www.ncpublicschools.org/homebase/resources. Under VIDEOS, click on Home Base Webinars.) The meeting has a limited number of spaces, so there should be only ONE log-‐in per school or central office for each session. We ask principals to designate one area, such as a media center, auditorium or conference room, and invite key personnel to attend. We ask the same of superintendents in central offices.
