Schoolnet: Resolution on Issues and Current Known Issues September 10, 2014 The NCDPI has received reports this morning, Sept. 10, that the search functionality for instructional resources and assessment items is still experiencing intermittent issues. Please know we take the urgency very seriously. We know that you rely on the system working to conduct your work. Please know that we are working as quickly as we can to solve the problem. As reported earlier this week, there have been steps taken to resolve the issue with assessment item search, and all testing indicated it was resolved on Monday and no issues were identified or reported on Monday or Tuesday. The issue with the search for instructional resources was previously resolved as of September 2 with no known reports of issues until this morning. These issues have been escalated to Pearson Support. Currently the NCDPI project team and Pearson engineering and data services teams are working to identify the root cause and resolve the issues. The steps taken to resolve this issue are as follows: • A hot fix was applied to address the instructional materials search, which lead to the Sept. 2 resolution. The issue with instructional resources search was tested, with all indication pointing to full resolution. • A hot fix was applied over the Sept. 6-‐7 weekend to address the assessment item search. • Data Services ran a script Sept. 8, at 10:00 AM, to extend the expiration date for items that were discovered to have reached an expiration date, which would not let them display in the system. After running the script, all items repopulated into Item Central. • The issue with assessment item search was tested, with all indication pointing to full resolution. • This morning, September 10, the NCDPI received reports that not all assessment items were appearing in search results. • Similarly, the NCDPI received reports that not all instructional resources were appearing for searches either. • The issue was escalated to Pearson support at 9:30AM. • The NCDPI project team and the Pearson engineering and data services teams are working to identify the root cause and resolve the issue.
