2001 Fruit Report Introduction
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has published the
Georgia Farm Gate Value Report for several years now. As time passes, the
depth and breadth of the survey and report continues to grow. In recent years, it
has become evident that in order to properly value fruits grown in the state of
Georgia, it would be necessary to collect more in depth information. Due to
space restraints, this information cannot be published in the main annual
publication.
Therefore, the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development has decided
to publish the Fruit Report. This report will highlight in more detail fruit production
in Georgia. This report will allow the user to see the further breakdowns on the
production types of fruits. For instance, blueberries are most often grown for
fresh or frozen use. Each type has commands a different price and also can
have a different yield. This report will show those prices and yields by county.
The Center hopes this new report will be a valuable tool for those interested in
fruit production in Georgia.
