AP EUROPEAN HISTORY AND AP ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMPOSITION (11TH GRADE)
EASTVIEW HONORS CHARACTER STATEMENT
An Honors/AP student exemplifies the following characteristics necessary to achieve success:

Thank you for your interest in Advanced Placement European History and Advanced Placement English
Language and Composition. These college level Advanced Placement courses will prepare students to
take the AP European History Exam and the AP English Language and Composition Exam in May of
2017. Successful scores on this exam may earn college credit, waiver of certain college requirements, or
placement in honors college programs. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR BOTH COURSES. By
registering for these courses you are EXPECTED TO TAKE both AP EXAMS.
Required summer reading will be assigned in May and must be completed prior to the beginning of the
2016-17 school year.
SAMPLE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Read the attached chapter from the AP European History textbook.
2. After reading the textbook chapter, respond to the essay prompt; you are limited to 500 words.
3. This essay is designed to make students aware of the rigor level of the 11th grade AP humanities
course offerings.
Essay prompt: “Identify and analyze the similarities and differences between the
American and French Revolutions.”
