Students seeking a Spring 2007 internship, or an internship waiver, must schedule a meeting with Professor Nickoli as soon as possible. You will need to bring an up-to-date DAPR for the meeting. Applications for Summer 2007 internships will not be accepted until later in the semester. LIONEL J. NEIMAN SCHOLARSHIP Neiman Scholarship Applications are due March 1, 2006. The Neiman Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is completing a CJC internship. The amount of the award varies, but has been approximately $2,000 for the past three years. Students with a 3.0 GPA who plan to complete an internship during the Summer or Fall, 2006, or Spring 2007, should apply. Applications are available in the rack outside the CJC office (NQ 248). The deadline for applications is March 1, and the recipient will be selected by March 21. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. McKean. Page 2 STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ALPHA PHI SIGMA: (APS) The family adopted by the APS was overjoyed with the gifts they received. The family (of three girls) would not have had the Christmas they did without your generosity. The first annual meeting will be held at the end of January. If you are not a member please join us. We will be discussing upcoming events like CJC Career Day, tours of CJC facilities, possible softball game with another CJC organization, Relay for Life, and the Awards and Inductions ceremony. If you have any ideas for APS or LAE activities, please send an email to Dr. D’Angelo (APS) and Professor Nickoli (LAE) WRITING COMPETENCY EXAMINATION PROFESSORS PRESENT RESEARCH The next general writing competency examination will be held February 6-11. The sign up dates for the exam are January 9-18 in WQ 200. There will be a study session on February 1 in BB 109 at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Cindy Hendricks, Bowling Green State University, Professor Angela Nickoli, and Dr. James Hendricks presented a paper at the annual meeting of the American Reading Forum entitled “Life as a College Student: Metacognition,” in December 2005. On January 26th, at 2:00 pm in Cardinal Hall A &B the CJC Department will hold its next Presentation in the Professional Development Series with First Sergeant Timothy Kaiser, presenting “The Forensic Process: Crime Scene Investigation.” First Sergeant Kaiser has instructor experience as a field training officer, firearms instructor, first responder, and in accident prevention.
