Job Description
Summary: Life Adventure Center is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic program facilitator, to facilitate
programs for our Outdoor Adventure, Challenge Course, and Environmental Education Programs. The
Program Facilitator provides facilitation and coordination of all aspects of the Challenge Course, Mobile Unit,
Environmental Education and Outdoor Adventure programs (hereafter referred to as “Programs”) including, but not
limited to, program planning, course preparation, group contact, logistics, facilitation, and other functional programming
pieces while always focusing on safety and the highest level of industry standards. This position requires some travel,
as well as the ability to work on weekends and overnight. Applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, and sit or
stand for extended periods of time in an outdoor setting.
Job duties and responsibilities pertaining to the Program Facilitator: (Other duties may be
assigned.)
•
Facilitates the Programs of Life Adventure Center of the Bluegrass as assigned by the Program Director/Program
Coordinators and assures the safety of those Programs.
•
Assist with program planning tasks including program goals, trip plan, budget and schedule.
•
Schedules use of all equipment, gear, vehicles, food and other necessary materials needed to carry out the
program plan.
•
Follows Challenge Course and Outdoor industry standards for use and care of all equipment to maintain the safety
of the participants and the quality and condition of the equipment.
•
Effectively teach and coach students in outdoor living skills through role modeling, speaking to a group, and
working one on one with students.
•
Demonstrate a working knowledge of Challenge Course and Outdoor Adventure risk management policies,
procedures, and emergency response and management plans.
•
In working with the Program Coordinators, the Program Facilitator would assist with any marketing or sales needs
to promote a particular program.
•
Develops Challenge Course and Mobile Unit curriculum. Expands the current knowledge of staff with new games
and initiatives. Creates new games and initiatives for use on the Challenge Course. Develops new processing and
debriefing tools.
•
Ensure an impactful experience for student and adult participants by providing accurate information in advance,
outstanding service, welcoming atmosphere, and review of feedback.
•
Assure high quality staff service including thorough pre-program briefings and post-program debriefings, providing
accurate information in advance, and review of staff feedback.
•
Responsible for assisting with post-program tasks. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, proper return of
equipment, physical sites returned to pre-program status, photos processed, processing of consent forms, and a
course recap with the Program Director/Program Coordinator.
•
Communicate with Program Director/Program Coordinators any problems, changes and deficiencies with respect
to particular programs and offer suggestions for the resolution of such issues.
•
Actively pursues professional development opportunities to expand their level of deliverables.
•
Supervise and coordinate volunteers for special projects.
•
As assigned by Program Coordinators, this position will engage in outreach to organizations in the community who
are potential partners for upcoming events.

especially with regard to respect, communication, leadership and teamwork-values promoted in our programming.
•
Maintains a positive, productive working relationship and open communication with all staff within the organization.
•
Provides services in manner which respects individual dignity and cultural heritage.

Bachelor’s degree (earned or in process) in recreation/outdoor/experiential education or related field
or Bachelor’s degree in park administration, tourism or a related field.
Organized and detail oriented.
Demonstration of strong facilitation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred: Knowledge of ACCT standards
Preferred: Experiential education program experience, Camp, and/or NOLS/Outward Bound
experience
Preferred: Wilderness First Responder or equivalent certification.
Additional merit given to applicants with ACA, AMGA, BCU, LNT, or other industry certifications.
