Policy Discussions:
1. CAGAS discussed a policy suggestion from OAS to expand OAS offerings to freshman
transfer. The discussion covered such issues as purpose of the change, change in transfer
admission’s policy, the role OAS may have with freshman transfers, the need for the policy, the
involvement of the Admission’s office, and clarification of the new possible admission
procedure. After a lengthy discussion, CAGAS decided to table the policy.
2. As a result of a student appeal, CAGAS determined to count anthropology and sociology as
two distinct disciplines for the purposes of the Social Science General Education category until
GERC or CGE clarifies the current policy.
3. CAGAS decided to develop a sub-committee to explore current admission policies including
the various admission gateways and procedures used to determine success of admission
procedures. Additionally, the subcommittee will collect data based on the current admissions
formula and will work in conjunction with the admission’s office. Lauer, Intrieri, and Miller will
serve on this subcommittee.
Announcements:
Chair reminded council members that the last meeting of the semester is Dec. 7. CAGAS will
meet on Tuesday Jan. 9 at 10:00am and resume regular Thursday meetings on Jan. 18.
