Access Monash Update August 2015 Welcome to the August 2015 edition of Access Monash Update. This newsletter is designed to keep our partner schools informed about the exciting activities and opportunities available to your students. VCE revision lectures We are excited to again be partnering with Access Education, who are running their popular VCE revision lectures around Melbourne and regional Victoria in the September school holidays. These lectures give students an intensive subject overview, and are designed to help students feel confident in their exams and get the most out of their study time. As a SAM school, you will be reimbursed for a certain number of tickets. Please contact your Access Monash Support Officer to confirm the number of tickets available. ► More information Art Design & Architecture folio preparation workshops We are very excited to announce that we will be sponsoring Year 11 and 12 students from our SAM schools who attend our Monash Art Design & Architecture (MADA) folio preparation workshops. These workshops give creative students a head start on their folios, and the chance to meet inspiring academics. Young Women and Leadership event The Learn, Experience, Access Professions (LEAP) program is sponsoring female students to participate in a Q&A event with the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce, Australia’s first female GovernorGeneral. Applications for the 10 September event close on Friday 21 August. ► More information Access Monash Mentoring program update Our Access Monash Mentoring program has had a very successful year so far. Our Ambassadors help us inspire and inform our partner school students. They engage with students via our mentoring program, and assist us in running outreach activities, Q&A sessions, campus tours and other events. The program is a great opportunity for students who want to make a difference. Ambassadors are automatically considered for the Monash Community Leaders Scholarship, and develop their leadership, public speaking, teamwork and group facilitation skills. We will be sending a promotional poster to your school soon. ► monash.edu.au/access/about-ama.html Maddy has been an Ambassador since 2013. ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed introducing my mentees to the opportunities available at uni’, Maddy says. ‘I have explained how to apply through VTAC and SEAS, and helped with sharing exam and study tips.
