——————–“Educating our students to reach their full potential”———————
Character Trait for October: RESPECT
Respect means a lot of different things. On a
practical level it seems to include taking
someone's feelings, needs, thoughts, ideas,
wishes and preferences into consideration. We
might also say it means taking all of these seriously and giving them worth and value. In fact,
giving someone respect seems similar to valuing
the person and their thoughts and feelings. It also
seems to include acknowledging them, listening
to them, being truthful with them, and accepting
their individuality.
Respect can be shown through behavior and it
can also be felt. We can act in ways which are
considered respectful; yet, we can also feel respect for someone and feel respected by someone. When the feeling is there, the behavior will
naturally follow.
At Rosemount Elementary School we value respectful interactions between everyone within our
school. One of the school expectations for our
students says, to “be respectful to yourself and
others.” As a school, our primary focus is on
learning. Skills and strategies to solve problems
and achieve academic excellence are important.
To have knowledge and to be respectful are attributes for success.
So far we have received over 350
participation and pledge forms!
Keep up the good work!
Our “reading rocks” read -a -thon is
the main fundraiser for rosemount
elementary.
Proceeds will support technology,
media, and student programs that
the pto supports on an ongoing
basis.
Discussion points with your child:
Who are people you respect?
How do you show respect?
Why is respect for each other important in our
family?
• Why is it important to be respectful to other
people at RES?
• How do we show respect to our flag, country,
property?
Respectfully, Tom
Last year we raised over $21,000. this
year we hope to raise $25,000.

Fall Box Top Competition is ready to start. You can get ready by
asking anyone and everyone you know to start saving box tops for
your students.
This competition is running from Monday, October 4 through Friday December 10th. When your children bring the box tops to
school the teacher’s will show them where to place them. Weekly we will be collecting and counting, you can
watch your child’s classroom on the chart outside the cafeteria or check out the announcements in Friday Folders and the Leprechaun Ledger.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three classrooms weekly in addition to other prizes at the end of the competition.
Our goal for the 2010 – 2011 school year is to collect 75,000 which will earn the school $7,500!! The money
earned will be used to purchase Document Cameras for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms. These cameras will
allow the teachers to project instructional materials and images on the smartboards.
Check out the Sunday adds, as they will sometimes have specials where you can earn extra Box Tops as well.
Thank You –
The Box Top Ladies , Tammy Buckley and Becky Pasch
Use of e-mail at Rosemount Elementary School:
We value effective communication at our school. The use of e-mail has increased over the last few years. Most of our staff members do not
have their e-mail accounts open during the school day while they are working with students. As stated in our handbook: The staff at RES
have an agreement to reply to e-mails within two school days. If your need to communicate with a staff member is urgent, please call the
school office (651-423-7690) and we will relay your message to the appropriate person.

Thank you to everyone who came to the
September PTO meeting. We had a great
turnout and look forward to continuing this
throughout the year!
Our next meeting is Tuesday, October

Reading Rocks Read-a-Thon is our only fundraiser that involves pledges, sponsors, and collection of money.
The children are very excited to see their names on the walls
as they walk through the media center hallway.
Pledge forms are due on Monday October 4th and Monday
October 11th. These forms can be found in the Reading

I hope every family is settling into their routine
now that we have been back to school for 3 weeks.
I want to thank all the parents and grandparents who expressed an interest in volunteering this school year. I
received LOTS of my Volunteer Forms back. Please send
in yours if you haven’t done so already.
I’d also like to thank the following who have helped so far
with the Reading Rocks Read-a-thon fundraiser: Sabrina
Powers, Mary Jane Schneider, Rebecca Bina, Heather Nosan, Becky Pasch, Lori Kalata, Barb Hester, and Nancy
Asmus. I hope I mentioned everyone! We have a great

A big thank you goes to all who helped with Picture Day,
especially Sarah Rothstein who organized the many volunteers and assisted the students to look their best.
I am still looking for parents/families willing to host

Wendy’s donates a percentage of their sales for that
time and it’s a great community building event. Thanks
for considering it.

During the week of September 2024, Food and Nutrition Services
celebrated Minnesota’s first annual

On other days in September, students received fresh local watermelon from Slyzick Farms in Foley, MN and
McIntosh apples from Wescott Orchards in Elgin, MN.
Rosemount Elementary, Rosemount Middle, and Rosemount
High Schools all received fresh, locally grown produce
from Hmong farmers in Rosemount. Fresh broccoli, cherry
