We have developed a model of persistence that depends upon the degree of saturation of each pixel in the earlier exposure, the integration time in the earlier exposure, and the time since that exposure. In this model, the amplitude of the persistence varies slowly across the face of the detector, but the other propertiees are (to first order) independent of the location on the detector. The primary purpose of this program is to obtain a better measure of these amplitude variations, so that the correction flat used in the model can be made more accurate. The data will also be used to test more rigorously whether there are spatial variations in persisrence that depend on properties, such as exposure time or degree of saturation, ot the (Tungsten flat) image responsible for geneating persistence. OBSERVING DESCRIPTION This is a proposal intended to study amplitude variaitons in persistence using the internal flat. It will allow us to develop an improved correction flat for the current persistence model. Each visit consists of a small set of inital darks to establish conditions prior to persistence meausrement, a single Tungsten flat exposure, and a long series of darks intended to monitor the persistence as it decays. The main difference between the visits is all in the Tungsten lamp exposure, which are intended to sample a range of fluence levels (degree of saturation), and exposure times. At the shorter exposure times/lower fluence levels the visits are two orbits in duration (since persistence should not last as long; at longer exposure times/higher fluence levels the vits take 3 orbits. All visits in the program should be considered bad actors. Although the each visit is planned as a non-interuptible sequence; small gaps in the darks are allowed, escept right around the tungsten lamp expsoure.
