Honors Courses:
These courses follow the curriculum of our
regular (non-honors) courses, with more
depth, breadth, and rigor. These courses
provide an excellent preparation for future
Advanced Placement, College in the
Schools and College Level studies.
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses:
These courses offer college bound students
the opportunity to earn college credit while
in high school. To earn college credit, the
student must successfully complete the
course and take an end of the course
examination. The Advanced Placement
examinations are optional (but highly
recommended) for students and are
administered through the nonprofit College
Board for a student paid fee. Every
college/university in the country has their
own policies regarding accepting advance
placement test scores for credit.
College in the Schools (CIS) Courses:
These are University of Minnesota courses
taught at Rosemount by a high school
teacher who has been specially trained to
teach the course. The final grades earned by
the students in these courses are placed on
both a Rosemount High School and
University of Minnesota transcript. Tuition
is paid for by the school district.
Additional Opportunities: Additional
opportunities are available through the Post
Secondary Education Options Program
(PSEO), Mentor Program, and a variety of
RHS courses which offer concurrent
enrollment agreements with local colleges.
See the RHS Registration Guide for
information regarding these programs.
