with these qualifications:
Pharmacists are health professionals and are
part of the healthcare team. They inform and
educate patients so that medication is used in a
safe and effective way. Graduates can move
into the following careers:







Community Pharmacy – the majority of
graduates work in this field, including those
who take ownership of a pharmacy or work
in partnership. Community pharmacy
includes responsibilities such as:
– Dispensing and counselling regarding
medicines
– Primary care
– Home medicines review and residential
medicine management review
– Disease state management
Hospital Pharmacy – many graduates
enter hospital pharmacy and work as part of
a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Hospital
pharmacists fulfil the following
responsibilities:
– Medication needs of patients within the
hospital
– Clinical pharmacy
– Clinical trial management
– Providing drug information
Government Pharmacy – involved with
regulatory control of pharmaceutical and
medical products at government levels
including within the armed forces
Industrial Pharmacy – involved in research
and the development, manufacture, testing,
analysis and marketing of pharmaceutical
products
Education and Academia – research and
teaching roles
Medical Publishing – producing and
contributing to education materials
Research and Development – designing,
developing, evaluating and testing new

must complete a degree course plus one
additional year of internship training under the
supervision of the Australian Pharmacy Council.
