Criteria for Quadrilateral Chart:
 Use a 11” X 17” piece of paper
 Each “family” that extends from the quadrilateral shape (there are three of them) must be its own color.
This means you will use four different colors for your chart
 Each shape must be cut out of graph paper and then glued onto a colored sheet of paper that matches it’s
family’s color
o Suggested lengths for sides of shapes:
Quadrilateral (all 4 sides a different length): between 1 – 3 inches
Kite: 1 inch and 2 inches
Trapezoids: longest side 3 inches
Parallelogram: between 1 – 2 inches
Rhombus: 1 inch
Rectangle: between 1 and 1.5 inches
Square: 1 or 1.5 inches
 Every shape must be made with correct measurements and slopes. For example, for any shape that has
parallel sides those sides must use the same slope. For any shape that has congruent sides those sides
must have the same measurement (use a ruler).
 All congruent sides, congruent angles, and parallel sides must be labeled on each shape.
 Under each shape you will list all of its properties from the definitions on page 306 as bullet points
 After today you should have the following number of bullet points for each shape:
Quadrilateral: 1
Parallelogram: 1
Kite: 1
Rectangle: 2
Trapezoid: 1
Rhombus: 2
Isosceles Trapezoid: 2
Square: 3
 Make sure to leave more room because we will be filling in more properties for each shape as we
continue through chapter 6. The total amount of bullet points for each shape are:
o Quadrilateral will have one bullet point
o Kite will have three bullet points
o Trapezoid will have one bullet point
o Isosceles Trapezoid will have four bullet points
o Parallelogram will have five bullet points
o Rectangle will have seven bullet points
o Rhombus will have seven bullet points
o Square will have eight bullet points
 Be careful not to make the parallelogram family too big; each of those shapes will have a lot of
information that goes with them.
 Take the right edge of you quadrilateral chart, fold it over hamburger style until the right edge is about
an inch away from the left edge.
 Three-hole punch the left edge of you chart and put it in your math binder for future reference!
Rubric for Grading the Chart:
