Campus Public Safety Monthly Activity Report - Jan 2012 CASE NUMBER 001 DATE REPORTED 01/05/2012 INCIDENT Criminal Mischief III VALUE OF PROPERTY $10.00 SUMMARY Staff member walking on College Way found graffiti on the Campus Directory sign in Lot-A that faces College Way. The staff member called CPS pictures were taken graffiti was removed. There are no suspects at this time. CASE NUMBER 002 DATE REPORTED 01/08/2012 INCIDENT Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY CPS Officers observed two subjects smoking a pipe outside of Gilbert Hall. When contacted, it was found that they were smoking marijuana. A small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia were seized. Students referred to Conduct Review Committee. CASE NUMBER 003 DATE REPORTED 1/9/2012 INCIDENT Theft II, Unlawful Entry into VALUE OF PROPERTY $160.00 SUMMARY Student reported someone “prowling” cars in Lot-K. Officers contacted suspect who then fled from the scene. Police were called and searched area but were not able to locate suspect. One student vehicle was found to have been entered. A “GPS” unit was discovered missing. Report filed with FGPD. Suspect was located and arrested several days later, admitting to the theft. Property was not recovered. CASE NUMBER 004 DATE REPORTED 1/10/2012 INCIDENT Drugs/ Criminal Trespass II VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY Officers located a vehicle in the Cannery Field parking lot, occupied by four subjects. On contact, it was found that they were smoking marijuana inside the vehicle. Police responded as well. Two students and one non-student were cited for possession of marijuana. Nonstudent was issued a Trespass Notice and escorted off campus. CASE NUMBER 005 DATE REPORTED 1/10/2012 INCIDENT Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Resident Assistants reported the odor of marijuana on the third floor, west side of Clark Hall. CPS responded and contacted the occupants of the suspect room who admitted to smoking marijuana. Small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia was seized. Student referred to Conduct Review Committee. CASE NUMBER 006 DATE REPORTED 1/10/2012 INCIDENT Alcohol & Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY CPS contacted by RA’s in reference to alcohol and the odor of marijuana in Gilbert Hall. Upon arrival Officer’s found alcohol in the apartment. Odor of marijuana was noticeable in one of the rooms in the apartment and small amount of residue was found on desk chair and in desk drawer. One student admitted to smoking a joint in that room in the company of the occupant of that room. Several students referred to Conduct Review Committee for alcohol and substance violations. Two non-students were given a Trespass Warning and escorted off campus. Campus Public Safety Monthly Activity Report - Jan 2012 CASE NUMBER 007 DATE REPORTED 1/11/2012 INCIDENT Criminal Mischief III VALUE OF PROPERTY $20.00 SUMMARY While on foot patrol, Campus Public Safety Officer discovered graffiti on concrete pillar at South East exterior corner of building. CASE NUMBER 008 DATE REPORTED 1/11/2012 INCIDENT Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY CPS notified, by an anonymous caller, of the odor of marijuana on the third floor of Walter. Upon arrival CPS Officers made contact with two male students. Marijuana and paraphernalia were confiscated from both individuals who admitted to smoking marijuana. Both students referred to Conduct Review Committee. CASE NUMBER 009 DATE REPORTED 01/12/2012 INCIDENT Theft III VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Aramark staff reported two students taking food from RFOC without paying. CPS made contact with the students who admitted that they did not pay. Referred to Conduct Advisor. CASE NUMBER 010 DATE REPORTED 01/12/2012 INCIDENT Property Damage VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Student reported that he fell during practice for a play at Warner Hall and damaged a wall. Student also reported minor injury to his ankle. CASE NUMBER 011 DATE REPORTED 1/12/2012 INCIDENT Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY RA notified CPS in regards to the odor of marijuana near her residence in Walter Hall. CPS made contact with a male student in the residence next to the RA. Odor of marijuana was evident outside and inside the room. CPS confiscated a warm marijuana pipe with residue and a baggie containing small flakes of marijuana. Report filed and graffiti removed. CASE NUMBER 015 DATE REPORTED 01/15/2012 INCIDENT Theft II VALUE OF PROPERTY $700.00 SUMMARY A student and an alumni reported theft of personal property from a University van that was on a day trip off campus. Approximately $700.00 in property was taken from the two victims. No suspects identified. CASE NUMBER 016 DATE REPORTED 1/15/2012 INCIDENT Criminal Trespass, warning/ VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY Campus Public Safety received a call from a staff member about a male asleep at a computer station at the library. CPS Officers responded and made contact with the male. Male was intoxicated and disruptive. CPS Officers contacted FGPD for assistance. CPS Officer issued the male a Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted him off campus. CASE NUMBER 017 DATE REPORTED 01/16/2012 INCIDENT Drugs, Criminal Trespass VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY Campus Public Safety contacted a non-student male walking on campus, and found he was in possession of marijuana and a pipe. Police responded and issued the male a citation for possession of marijuana. Suspect issued a trespass warning and escorted off campus. CASE NUMBER 019 DATE REPORTED 01/18/2012 INCIDENT Property Damage VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Campus Public Safety received a call of a tree branch that fell on top of three vehicles in Lot-K. The branch broke due to heavy snow fall. No one was injured and no property damage was noted to the vehicles. There are no suspects at this time. CASE NUMBER 021 DATE REPORTED 01/21/2012 INCIDENT Drugs, Criminal Trespass VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY Campus Public Safety Officers made contact with two non-student males in a vehicle near the athletic center. Officers noticed what appeared to be illegal drugs in the driver’s hands. Police were called and found the driver to be in possession of heroin. Suspect was issued a trespass warning from Pacific University property and arrested by Police. The passenger was released without incident. CASE NUMBER 022 DATE REPORTED 1/24/2012 INCIDENT Unlawful Entry into Motor VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Student reported that someone had cut open the plastic window cover on his Jeep while it was parked in lot “K.” Items inside had been gone through but nothing appeared to be missing. No suspects identified. CASE NUMBER 023 DATE REPORTED 1/24/2012 INCIDENT Tampering with Fire Equipment VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Residence Assistant discovered a smoke detector that had been tampered with. Detector was restored and resident students referred to conduct advisor. CASE NUMBER 024 DATE REPORTED 01/24/2012 INCIDENT Tampering with Fire VALUE OF PROPERTY SUMMARY Campus Public Safety responded to reports of the fire alarm sounding at a residential hall. Upon further investigation Campus Public Safety found the alarm to be coming from a pull station, the alarm was found to be false. Investigation revealed that the alarm had been pulled by a student as a prank. Student was contacted and admitted to his actions. Referred to Conduct Review Committee. Campus Public Safety Monthly Activity Report - Jan 2012 CASE NUMBER 026 DATE REPORTED 01/26/2012 INCIDENT Theft III VALUE OF PROPERTY $102.00 SUMMARY Faculty member reported her purse stolen while off campus, which included her university key ring with several different keys from Hillsboro campus. No suspects identified. Facilities notified to change / replace key cores. CASE NUMBER 027 DATE REPORTED 1/26/2012 INCIDENT Property Damage VALUE OF PROPERTY $50.00 SUMMARY Motor-pool reported damage to university van (VF-11) which was noted on its return from a lengthy winter semester trip. None of the drivers reported the damage nor could recall how it had occurred. Minor repairs completed in-house. There is no suspect at this time. CASE NUMBER 031 DATE REPORTED 01/29/2012 INCIDENT Drugs VALUE OF PROPERTY $0.00 SUMMARY Campus Public Safety Officer’s responded to a resident hall for reports of a marijuana odor. Officer’s located the source and made contact with the occupants in the room. A small amount of marijuana, a homemade bong, and 2 small bottles of alcohol were seized as evidence. University property was also found in the room and returned to its proper location. EMS was called and evaluated patient who was not transported. Student was referred to the Health Center.
