Assignment: Endings Create a short story or extended poem with the theme of ‘Endings’. The work you have read has been about urban environments and speculative. You can do create something similar, or go a different direction. However, your work should not be geared toward the idea of ‘death’ or ‘loss of a loved one’. The pieces that you read were about endings, but don’t have the level grief associated with personal bereavement. Keep your story in the broader idea of endings. For your story or poem you must include: A variety of figurative language A clear feeling of ending, though not necessarily one of deep grief An association of what is ‘known’, that is something that quickly connects the reader to the setting or situation. (Example, the feeling of living in a city or a house.)
