Directions for Scoring SIGS:
1.
When you get the form back from a teacher, be sure to check addition for each of the areas rated.
2.
Use the summary form to record the RAW score.
The raw score is the total when adding each of the ratings in an area.
3.
Use the table on page 41 of the red manual: a.
Find the raw score in the left column to find the Scale Standard Score associated with the area you are using. Be sure to look in the appropriate column (notice, there is a column for each area of the SIGS). b.
Record the Standard Score on the Summary
Form
4.
After all Standard Scores are recorded, turn to page 45. a.
Find the Standard Score for each area and record the percentiles on the summary form.
5.
When a SIGS is used in determining identification status, a copy of the summary form MUST be submitted with the profile sheet.
6.
Keep the actual SIGS and summary form on file at your school.
SIGS is used as a part of the body of evidence. No one score should be a determining factor for identifying (or not identifying) a student for gifted services.
