Follow the directions below for the online San Diego Zoo. Attach all answers on a separate paper.

Go to http://www.sandiegozoo.org
On the top panel, click on the Animals & Plants tab
Click on Animal Bytes on the left side
Click on each of the Animal Categories, then click on 1 animal from
each category - Insects, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds, & Mammals
(5 animals total)
A. For each animal, complete the following:
i. The name of the animal group & common name of the
animal
ii. The scientific name (Genus & species)
iii. Where in the world the animal is found
iv. The specific habitat of the animal
v. 4 facts about the animal
vi. How the animal is surviving (i.e. endangered, threatened,
stable population)
5. Go back to the Animal Bytes page
6. Click on Conservation Status at the bottom of the page and complete
the following:
A. Explain the difference between Endangered, Critically
Endangered, and Vulnerable Species according to the
World Conservation Union (IUCN)
B. Give an example of an animal that is critically endangered.
7. Go back to the Animal Bytes main page.
8. Click on 6 of the 10 Habitats & Ecosystems and complete the following
for each:
A. Describe/Summarize the ecosystem in your own words.
B. Click on 1 animal from the list on the left. Write the animal’s
name & explain why/how this animal has adapted to this
specific ecosystem.
C. Has to be a different animal than those five from above.
10. Go back to the main page to see some great photos! Under the
Animals & Plants tab, click on the Live Cams and Videos tab.
