Physics Seminar Wednesday 2/20/2013, 4:30 pm Science & Engineering Building Auditorium Carolyn Yackel Department of Mathematics Mercer University Fun, Flexagons, and Algebra, Pick Two Don’t be the only kid at the caf that doesn’t know how to make a flex-mex burrito a la Vi Hart. Come learn how it’s done. Flexagons are paper toys that have been studied since they were first concocted in the 1960s. They can be made in a number of different forms, colored, and flipped around for lots of surprises. We will discuss and discover some of the related mathematics present and not present (combinatorial and group theoretic). Simultaneously, we will play with fascinating models. Please join us for light refreshments at 4:15pm outside SEB 203.
