RESEARCH INTERESTS
My current research interest is forensic analysis of abused drugs, fire accelerants and toxicological specimens using ambient ionization mass spectrometry (AI/MS), gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry
(LC/MS). A common theme in my research is to explore novel ionization techniques such as
1
direct analysis in real time (DART), atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) and electron capture ionization (ECI) in forensic analysis. There are three major research focuses:
1) Investigation of AI/MS for direct analysis of abused drugs and fire accelerants at the crime scène;
2) Development of novel GC/MS and LC/MS methods for the analysis of biodiesels and vegetable oils;
3) Exploration of GC/ECI/MS and LC/ECI/MS for trace level analysis of drugs in forensic toxicology and doping control.
