Began a department wide conference where students, professors and outside speakers will present research both through oral and poster presentations. The conference serves as both a teaching tool for students in becoming effective communicators as well as a tool for members of the department to learn about and from their colleagues. Chicago Mercantile Exchange Trading Competition Chicago, IL Team Leader 2012 Headed a team of 5 for a 1-month competition trading light sweet crude oil and gold futures contracts. Through the use of both technical and fundamental trading strategies we were able to capture market swings as well as supply and demand variations so as to maintain a healthy portfolio pushing us to the top 10 for the majority of the competition. Began our analysis focusing on the top five countries influencing the price of each commodity. Then narrowed our research to factors outside mere supply/ demand shifts dictating prices within each country. We focused a lot on political, economic and supply chain stability. Erin M. Hardin (816) 564-8943│ emhardin210@gmail.com WORK EXPERIENCE Texas A&M University College Station, TX Lecturer & Teaching Assistant August 2012- Currently Employed Assistantship responsibilities have ranged from senior level, capstone classes focused on corporate finance and pricing analysis to introductory courses on the fundamentals of economics. Obligations include drafting and articulating the subject matter to the students in an efficient and innovative manner. Two-hour instruction sessions once a week for 40 students. Tutoring Asked to take on an instructor position after only one semester of teaching assistant responsibilities. As lecturer, developed the entire coursework and lesson plans for a 300 level financial management class with 113 students. An emphasis was put on creating an innovative curriculum to explain difficult or foreign ideas to students with varying backgrounds and majors through the use of in-class instruction as well as written and quantitative assignments and examinations. Following the completion of this course, have been asked to teach three other courses. Instructed a 200 level, math and statistics intensive course required for all students majoring in Agricultural Economics. Taught about 200 students in four sessions a week. Creativity in communicating material was necessary as mastery level and experience in the subjects covered ranged significantly.
