LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Graduate Student Association
President
2014- Current

only growing community in the department but also as a way to create an open forum for students and professors to
learn from one another and create opportunities for future research and collaboration.
 Have acquired the responsibility of being a liaison for prospective students. Responsibilities include arranging
meetings with groups of graduate students with similar interests and experience to answer questions and concerns.
Also act as a source of communication or guidance for the students after their on-campus visit.
 Organize and facilitate community service events as a way for our group to give back to the community in which we
live. Service trips have included a food drive, the Big Event and Hospice.
 Began a tutoring service for graduate students to assist undergraduates throughout the year. Positive feedback from
students, professors and advisors on the success of the services.

professors in their field across the nation and internationally, industry leaders and alumni.
 Began a department wide conference where students, professors and outside speakers will present research both
through oral and poster presentations. The conference serves as both a teaching tool for students in becoming
effective communicators as well as a tool for members of the department to learn about and from their colleagues.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange Trading Competition
Chicago, IL
Team Leader
2012
 Headed a team of 5 for a 1-month competition trading light sweet crude oil and gold futures contracts. Through the
use of both technical and fundamental trading strategies we were able to capture market swings as well as supply and
demand variations so as to maintain a healthy portfolio pushing us to the top 10 for the majority of the competition.
 Began our analysis focusing on the top five countries influencing the price of each commodity. Then narrowed our
research to factors outside mere supply/ demand shifts dictating prices within each country. We focused a lot on
political, economic and supply chain stability.
