If you have a conflict for a particular exam, you must let me know before the time of the exam. Failure to do so will result in a 0 for the exam. • Final Exam: The date and time of the final exam will be announced later in the semester. Do not make plans for summer break before you know your final exam schedule. • Lab: There is a two-hour laboratory scheduled each week. Labs provide the opportunity to actively experience statistical ideas discussed in class. Attendance at the lab is mandatory. In addition to doing the laboratory activities you can get help from the lab instructor and/or course instructor. Bring your book, class notes and a calculator to the lab. • Homework: Individual practice is an important part of learning. For this reason homework problems will be assigned throughout the semester. Homework assignments will be due in my office by 4:00 pm on the assigned due date. A 20% penalty will be imposed on homework assignments turned in up to one class day late. Homework assignments turned in more than one class day late will not be accepted. Solutions to the homework problems will be posted on the course website. • Computing: Many labs/homeworks will incorporate work on the computer using the statistical analysis package JMP. Detailed instructions will be provided with all computer assignments. Help with JMP is available in 307 Snedecor at the times posted. Be sure to allow enough time to complete the JMP assignments. It is your responsibility to allow for computer failures and/or difficulty finding a computer with the JMP software. • Projects: Two projects will be assigned during the semester. The projects are intended to involve students in the collection and statistical analysis of data to solve real world problems. Students will work in groups. Specific details for each project will be given later in the semester. • Grading: Letter grades including plus/minus will be given based on performance on exams, labs, homework and the projects. The point distribution is as follows: Exam 1 Exam 2 Exam 3 Final Exam Labs/Hmwk Project I Project II Total 75 75 75 125 100 25 25 500 Iowa State University complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Sect 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
