MINUTES
Present: Trustees Lois Bartelme, Karen Gorham, John Hall, Jim Mollenhauer,
Marcia Rogers, Keith Stamp, John Swanson, Joel Thys.
Also Present: Mick Starcevich, President; Sheryl Cook, Secretary; Jim Choate,
Treasurer.
Chair Bartelme called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Trustees Mollenhauer and Swanson moved and seconded approval of the minutes
for the regular meeting held on January 8, 2015, and directed them to be made a part of
the permanent record. Motion carried: 8-0.
Trustees Hall and Thys moved and seconded approval of the agenda. Motion
carried: 8-0.
Justin Hoehn gave the Kirkwood Report and introduced Kim Muhl, who achieved
his 750th win with the Kirkwood Women’s Basketball team.
CONSENT AGENDA
Trustees Swanson and Rogers moved and seconded approval of the Consent Agenda.
Motion carried: 8-0.
A. Personnel (as attached to these minutes).
B. Change Orders:
1. City Construction – Kirkwood Center for Life Long Learning –
add $41,193.00
C. Synopsis of Bills - pages 1 through 80 for a total of $7,983,543.90.
REGULAR AGENDA
Trustees Stamp and Hall moved and seconded approval of Final Industrial New
Jobs Training Agreement (260E) pursuant to Chapter 260E, Code of Iowa and
Supplemental Program, pursuant to Section 15A.7, Code of Iowa with:
1. RuffaloCODY LLC of Linn County
2. Automation Systems and Control of Linn County
3. GreatAmerica Financial Services of Linn County
4. TelePharm LLC of Johnson County
Motion carried: 8-0.
Trustees Mollenhauer and Rogers moved and seconded approval of Preliminary
Industrial New Jobs Training Agreement (260E) with Lesaffre Yeast Corporation of Linn
County. Motion carried: 8-0.
Trustees Gorham and Thys moved and seconded approval of a resolution under the
Industrial New Jobs Training Act approving use of Preliminary Industrial New Jobs
Training Agreements executed by officers of Kirkwood Community College. Motion
carried: 8-0.
Trustees Stamp and Mollenhauer moved and seconded approval moving the
September 10, 2015, Board of Trustees meeting to September 17, 2015. Motion
carried: 8-0.
Trustees Gorham and Swanson moved and seconded approval for publication of the
Preliminary Budget for 2015-16 and setting the date of March 12, 2015, for public hearing.
Motion carried: 8-0.
Trustees Hall and Swanson moved and seconded approval of the Iowa City roof
recover project and setting the date of March 12, 2015, for public hearing. Motion
carried: 8-0.
Trustees Mollenhauer and Thys moved and seconded the nomination of Alan Jensen
to serve as District V Director, effective February 13, 2015, for the duration of the current
term. Motion carried: 8-0.
Trustees Gorham and Stamp moved and seconded the appointment of Tracy
Pearson to the Kirkwood Board of Trustees Audit Committee replacing John Hall. Motion
carried: 8-0.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
Travis Appel, Jim Bayne and Melissa Jensen reported on the wind turbine, team
cleaning and safety/security.
There being no further business coming before the Board, Trustees Hall and
Mollenhauer moved and seconded the meeting be adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
