Tearfund Partner Criteria The purpose of Tearfund is to serve Jesus Christ by enabling those who share evangelical beliefs to bring good news to the poor. Our primary way of bringing good news to the poor is by working with local evangelical organisations – our partners. Tearfund usually provide grants, capacity building and links with wider advocacy initiatives. In order to become a Tearfund partner, an organisation must: • have an evangelical identity and be able to agree to the Tearfund Basis of Faith • be a properly constituted organisation with legal registration within the area, governed by a responsible Board or Synod (or give reasons why this is impossible in their particular context) • be able to show how they engage with and equip the local evangelical church (or give reasons why this is impossible in their particular context) • be committed to addressing poverty in a way that meets people’s holistic needs (eg, physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs) • be able to share Tearfund core values. 21/06/10 1 of 1 3.i (ver 1.1)
