Hands down best teacher I've ever had at NCSU. And due to terrible teachers for MA 114 in the past, I had dropped
the course 3 previous times. Very realistic with grading, homework and assignment. Taught every aspect of the
course to a tee, as far as being detailed and clear on everything. Great work by Pendleton overall.
Well taught course. Very detai-oriented teacher.
-------Terrance Pendleton was an AWESOME instructor. You can really see his passion for mathematics and teaching. He
was always prompt to begin class and clearly explained concepts.
The only weakness of the course is "My Math Lab" homeworks did not always coordinate with the textbook used.
Strengths included the test questions reflected the quizzes which allowed practice before the exams (helpful).
-------Teacher was very personable. The questions were not easy and made you think. He was there to answer any
questions.
-------Professor Pendleton was excellent. I could not have asked for better. He took his time and made sure that all the
students were on the same page. It is hard to make a subject fun but he did it with ease. He is the type of teacher who
could make a student switch their major.
I believe the homework in mymathlab was a little excessive and not all of it was as close to what we were learning as

Terrance Pendleton was an amazing instructor. At first, i was weary because his teaching style is slightly different from
other math courses i have taken, but he explains the material fantastically. He is always willing to help students if they're
having trouble, and will take all the time needed until the student understands the material. Overall, one of the best
instructors i have ever had.
i thought the material the course covered was well thought out and not too overwhelming.
-------Strengths: Extremely receptive to students seeking help in office hours. Whenever I had an issue with a concept, he would
point me in the right direction. In lecture he is very enthusiastic and meticulous in explaining the things we need to learn.
Very often I would have an "aha" moment in class when a concept clicked for me, largely due to his explanation skill. I
would 100% recommend Mr. Pendleton to a friend seeking to take this course. It is a shame he will soon have his PhD! NC
State will lose a great professor. Weaknesses: Consistently 2-3 minutes late, but it IS an 8:05 class. I don't think getting
through the material was a problem, however, it was something I happened to notice.
The class itself needs more application. Simply learning about the heat, wave, and laplace equation without any sort of
context is infuriating, particularly for engineering majors. If you cannot assign application-based homework... it is still good
to mention some applications.
-------Terrance Pendleton was one of the best instructors I have had in mathematics. There were many things that made Mr.
Pendleton a great professor such as: stating the purpose of everything we do, taking questions openly, knowing the material
extremely well, being enthusiastic, friendly, tough but willing to help, and above all, wanting the best for all of his students.
The course was just enough material to where I feel I have a good basic understanding of PDE's. The flow of the chapters
was planned well. As it was presented to me, this course is excellent.

Good rate of learning material, and the homeworks are harder than tests. This means that even with steadily improving
homework grades for each section, they still hurt more even if you master material by the exam. But that is probably just
my learning style speaking.
Homework assignments were helpful, but often times the book problems were unpleasant. The questions provided by the
instructor were good, and the hints at critical points helped facilitate understanding.

Mr. Pendleton is an excellent teacher and will make a fantastic professor. He explains all facets of the course material with
extreme clarity and thoroughness, which is imperative in a difficult course like MA 401. He demonstrates that he knows the
material inside and out through his extreme competence at teaching the material. He is also extremely available outside of
class. He made sure his students knew the exact times that he would be in and out of the office, and was more than
accommodating for students to meet at times other than office hours. He exhibits a genuine care for his students and their
understanding of the material which is not seen by all professors. His homework assignments were fair and always relevant
to both course material and exam material. He was extremely helpful in outlining the topics that would be on the exams and
giving students ample time to prepare for exams. The course moved at a good pace and adequate time was spent on each
section to make sure students understood it properly. Overall he is an outstanding teacher.

Strengths were he gave many examples, offered aid to students and often extended his hours. His weaknesses were
being able to fully make us understand because though we were given homework, some students didn't do it since
it wasn't graded.
The course load was balanced. It had many different types of assignment problems, coupled with maturing our
responsibility as well. Weakness was that it was a long class at night. Focusing was hard for people with full
schedules from say 8am-9pm.

Terrance always made sure to be available to his students before and after class time to answer questions, and was
always willing to go over exams and quizzes individually. Sometimes he gets a little off topic, but he is
enthusiastic about the class and math in general, which makes the class enjoyable.
I found that the required Maple assignments were not overly useful. I especially did not like not knowing the
Maple deadline schedule ahead of time. It was irritating to be notified by e-mail 4 days in advance to the Maple
being due. It made it hard to work time into my schedule to get it finished.
My teacher worked through problems very quickly and was hard to understand and keep up with as a result.
I would nominate Terrance for the Outstanding Teacher Award, because he really cares about each of his students
and wants to see them succeed and do the best that they can possibly do in the class. Terrance was always willing
to sit down one on one or in a small group to go through student questions, or just come up with additional practice
problems to help prepare for exams and quizzes. Terrance is an engaging and enthusiastic teacher, and works hard
to help his students achieve excellence in calculus.
-------Terrence is the man. Strengths: -Taught very effectively.. I had never even taken Precalc and I did pretty well in
this class and was able to understand the concepts. -Used physics examples to show how the math of Calculus can
actually be helpful. -Helps to get extra practice for exams. -Gives opportunities for extra credit. Weaknesses: -I
really can't think of anything.
Strengths: -Rigorous, but doable. Weaknesses: -Maple seemed like an unneeded supplement.

I already took calc 1. So it was easy for me and even he explains very well for those who did not take calc before.
He is really good.
I am good at it so i don't have any problem with it.

Absolutely. Terrance Pendleton genuinely cares about his students and helping them do well in the class and
mastering the subject. He consistently planned interesting lectures and actively involved the class. Mr. Pendleton
made a course that could have been difficult into something very easy to understand and a course that I looked
forward to going to.

Absolutely. Terrance Pendleton is the best math instructor I have ever had the experience of learning from, and I
sincerely wish that I could take him all the way through Differential Equations. His laid back, personable
demeanor kept the class engaged through his 2- hour MA141 class; a feat not easily accomplished. He is
unbelievably approachable, and was willing to work with me through any inquisition I ever approached him with.
I would recommend him to any of my peers, and possibly to my other professors so that they may be influenced
by his teaching style. Terrance Pendleton is the epitome of "outstanding".

This class as fine as good as a math class could get. I would never make this class a 2 hour class; it was horrible.

The only reason that I stated I did not learn from this course is because I took it in high school. The material was
simply a review for me.

Could not understand TAs accent or handwriting.
Yes. Even though calculus was my most difficult subject I believe the way he taught it made it much more
bearable.
-------He is a little long winded at times, however he is very thorough and explains the material in great detail and gives
lots of examples.
The course is very well laid out and is pretty valuable to learning.
Yes, he is very enthusiastic about teaching and loves teaching. He also goes over the material in such detail that
there are hardly any concepts or problems that he has not covered.
-------Terrance is a great calculus teacher and makes having an evening class not as terrible as it could be. He is really
receptive to students questions and is willing to help in any way that he can. I know that for a couple of tests, I
was really and struggling and he would help me outside of office hours, which was great. Every example he gives
in class is helpful, even when he shows us the long, tedious ways to do problems, it is nice to know where
different concept come from.

Incredibly helpful, wouldnt have been able to get through the course without the lab.
-------This TA was probably the best I have ever had. He thoroughly understood the information and was able to teach it
to the class perfectly. If it was not for him I would probably fail this class. He wrote out how to do problems in

it gave us time to go into more detail on questions we had that we had to skip during class which really helped me

He has an outstanding teaching style since he knows how to break things down into simpler terms until the
student finally understands. He's a great TA and I certainly would recommend him in the future.

Terrence is a great teacher! Very organized, easy to learn his lessons.

Terrance has by far been the most effective instructor I have had in college. I have learned more math through him than
any other math teacher I have ever had. Last semester, in Calculus I, I scraped by with a B- and barely knew the
material. This semester, I have been making A's on my tests and I owe it to his preparation. AND he speaks English!
That is always a plus.

I do not feel there were any weaknesses. The lab instructor was always willing to answer any and all questions
students had and also held extra study sessions before a test. I found everything to be extremely useful in my learning
experience.
I felt that this course was exactly what it needed to be.
The lab was extremely helpful. It was great to have more individual attention and have the opportunity to ask specific
questions.
-------He was very good at answering questions and explaining the concepts that weren't fully understood during normal
class time.
It is a good course and I like the smaller size of it.

Terrance was an incredible TA. He went out of his way to make sure we were prepared for the upcoming tests and
understood our web assigns. If I pass this class it'll be because of him.
-------Terrance was a great teacher and instructor, and was very dedicated to helping us learn.
The lab was very helpful in helping me better understand the information for this course.
-------He is a very good teacher. He is always willing to help you work out a problem or figure out what you are doing
wrong. He is easy to talk to and explains problems well.
I liked the class because it gave you the opportunity to ask a question about a problem or to explain a certain concept
to you if you don't understand it. I liked the whiteboard. It definitely helped out when it came to seeing how he does
each problem and being able to go back and watch the lessons again was also beneficial.
-------I thought that Terrance was an awesome TA. He was always available to students outside of the classroom, and
always responded to emails in a timely manner. He was my elluminate instructor and I thought he did an excellent job
of explaining and teaching the material that was confusing to students in class. He also held test review sessions on
elluminate the day before a test which I attended, and thought that they were very helpful. He always made the
elluminate sessions fun and understandable, and I can't think of any weaknesses.
I was a little skeptical about the elluminate sessions when I first heard about them in my pre-calculus class as
supplemental instruction. However, after attending a couple of sessions I found them to be very helpful and always
took something away from each session. I would recommend continuing them, the only weakness is that we often ran
out of time in our session and other elluminate sessions usually took a couple of hours to be posted online.

Terrance explained problems effectively and thoroughly and I was able to understand his teachings
The course was a good resource for practicing for the lecture, MA 107, and helped to explain the material that was
given in MA 107

-------The lab helped a lot with the class, and math concepts were more understood. At times, it seemed to be better if
Terrance taught the lecture class instead of the professor. He seemed to teach the concepts with more understanding
and was so excited about helping us. Without this lab, I would have did a lot worse in the class. The elluminate system
seemed to always be down, which caused problems.

He was very helpful and i have no complaints.

It was very helpful, and i liked how you could see the problems being worked out on the computer.
-------The instructor was a great teacher who was able to make learning math fun but more important easier. He was able to
answer many of my questions effectively helping me to learn the material better. I feel that my instructor had no
weakness at all.
The course itself helped me to learn alot more about math in general and how I should apply the concepts I have
learned. The course was challenging but not impossible to comprehend.
The lab was a great way for me to ask questions that I did not get to ask or have answered in class due to time.
However, trying to get to the lab session through the links was a little hard because a couple times they did not work.

The set-up of Elluminate allowed for many students to simply log on and leave the computer, thus receiving no benefit
from the instructor.
-------Terrance is the man. He teaches very well. He has no weaknesses.
Illuminate session was too early

Good instructor, kept it simple and to the point.
Easy lab, nice to be able to sit down at home and still be able to participate in the lab session.

sometimes he would answer repetitive questions sometimes, which got annoying, but he was very helpful.
the lab was kind of dumb and useless to get up to if you didn't need help on the homework, but when he did review

My instructor was very enthusiastic about teaching this course. He made a 6:40-8:30 class worth going to.
Mr. Pendleton was prompt in his work and explanations. He was always supportive and responsive when it came to
students asking questions or seeking help.
He was a great teacher who knew what he was talking about and explained everything very well to each student.
He is a very good teacher; he is knowledgeable about the information that he is teaching and does a good job at
explaining it. I love how he gives so many opportunities for extra credit, and is very lenient with homework
assignments and other things. The only thing I didn't like about this class was when the TA taught the class, because he
was very difficult to understand and the class was disruptive the entire time. Overall this was a great class.
He has an uncanny ability to make math entertaining.
Terrance was a very good instructor. He was able to simplify many things that seemed harder in High School.
Mr. Pendleton was a great teacher. He got to the point in his lessons but was lively and made the classroom exciting. He
was very good at explaining the material and gave lots of examples to make sure we had adequate understanding of the
work.

The instructors strength was that he loved the subject and therefore made class interesting and fun. He had no
weaknesses.
He knew his material well, and was enthusiastic and wanted to teach, but sometimes he needed to speak up, more so in
the beginning of the year than the end.
Great teacher and person
Very eager and excited over his work. Tries to get the class excited also.
He teaches you everything you need to know in a fun, relaxed way. He doesn't make it seem like he is drilling math
problems in to your head so you will get it, and he writes out steps on the board of how to solve certain problems and
will explain each step well. The issue comes on his tests where 90% of the time the questions are like nothing I've seen
before, and I'm expected to connect things I learned from 1-2 months back to get an equation into a solvable form,
which would be fine if I were warned I would have to do this so I knew better what to study.
I think he was a new to teaching a class but handled it well. I would recommend a microphone.
He slowed through some of the tough stuff that really helped me.

Mr. Pendleton was a great teacher. Very encouraging and explains difficult problems well. I enjoyed his class and feel
better prepared for calculus by taking it.
The instructor explained things well but for me went waaaayyyy too slow to the point where class was boring.
Terrence is the man.
He could be a little bit louder as it is a large class and is sometimes hard to hear. He is a very approachable person.

He went through each chapter with great depth which made it very easy to learn.

I thought overall he was a good instructor but maybe give a few more quizzes so that the students can know what they

Mr. Pendleton was overall a good teacher. Sometimes he would face the board and it was difficult to hear what he
saying but his hand writing was very legible. I also really enjoyed how he was not very strict and harsh towards the
students. He is very personable and easy to approach if I needed a question answered.
Made concepts very clear and easy to understand.
My instructor is very enthusiastic, so it makes learning fun, but I think more classroom organization is needed.
Very good on step by step instruction. Teaches material slow, and step by step which was very good for me.
He was really great at explaining everything in great detail and was very helpful when it came to webassign and

I feel like this course prepared me to take calculus.
The course was very challenging in the fact it covered three different aspects of the math field. I would say this course
prepares you in great means and helps be the foundation for other maths.
The entire course was very engaging and successful.
The strength of the course is that it prepares you for calculus.
The web assign would have problems for homework that we would not cover how to do in class or those problems were
a lot more difficult/complicated than those in the book or on tests/quizes, so the course material in the book and in class
was good except for the webassign.

Webassigns are a waste of time and money, many calculators are now capable of preform the operations needed to solve
the problems so instead of students doing it and learning it they use calculators instead.
Covered everything I expected and a little more since it was the engineering version.

I thought overall the course was effective.
Helped to understand trigonometry. A course that would help build into calculus.
I didn't have much difficulty, but when i did, the teacher explained it so there was no confusion.

because my advisor said I would need and it ended up being a breeze and not that difficult. I did learn how to approach

The course was more challenging towards the end but its strength were in building a calculus foundation and
weaknesses came from amount of information in one section.

TP is amazing. I wish he could teach all of my math classes.
Terrance was a great teacher and will do well in the future.
The teaching assisstant, however, was a little distracting because he would sit in the back of the class and just be sitting
on the floor. He would also just randomly walk around and that was also distracting. He would also try and help us on
problems and completely go the long way around the problem and end up telling us the wrong way of how to do it. My
professor, though, was always happy to be there and excited about math.
This class was very enjoyable due to the teacher. He would have so much enthusaism towards the subject that you
couldn't be unhappy in that class.

I found this teacher to be refreshing. It is hard to find a good math teacher and I think he did an excellent job!
Terrance has been an excellent instructor. He has been an extremely knowledgeable about precalculus and has
prepared everyone well for calculus. THe only thing that he could improve on would be his assertiveness. I felt
sometimes that when the students were out of hand he was not a very strict disciplinarian. This did not have a terrible
effect on the class but would be very beneficial in future classes if he could be slightly more strict.
T. Pendleton was very knowledgeable about the subject however could be very boring with lack of interaction with
the class.
Fun, easy going, knowledgeable on the subject material and eager to help others and always asked for questions after
showing an example of teaching something new.

Terrance Pendleton was a great instructor. He was very friendly and funny. He made math very enjoyable. He had
very neat handwriting and was good at explaining things. I liked how in his notes he would write how to do math
problems in steps. This was very useful because you could see how the problem was broken down into different parts.
I really cant name any weaknesses about him I really enjoyed his class and If I could request him to be my instructor

Explained things extremely well!!
The instructor was strong in preparation for activities. He was also strong in answering questions and helping with
difficult material.
He always answered any questions students had or problems we had trouble with and was always very detailed on the
material.
The instructor was excellent throughout the semester. The information was always presented well and helped students
understand easily.
The instructor knew the material and was able to apply it and he was an effective instructor. If we had questions he
would try to answer them on email, if he couldn't he set up office hours and other times if you needed help. He also
set up study sessions before tests if it was a big test and people didn't understand the material.
Very helpful
The instructor was very organized and knew what he was doing when teaching the class. He was very helpful to
anyone who needed extra help or who was confused. The class got a bit rowdy at times, but overall he kept control
when it was necassary.
He knew a lot about math and was able to teach it to us so we understood it.

terrance was a great teacher. i hear about how a lot of my friends have bad TAs for pre cal and i was always the one to
say i have a great one. terrance was a very good teacher and he really likes what he does. math was very enjoyable
and i did not have a problem going to math 4 times a week.
The course was great. We had plenty of time to learn all of the material and review before each test. It moved at a
great pace and the class was overall bery good.
I liked this course a lot and the information we covered.
The class overall seemed pretty easy which made it sort of boring. There were no interactive activities.

The course wasn't to hard but did require some work.
Would like to have had more practice problems.

Awesome TA and teacher made all the difference.
Terrance was a great TA!! His problem session covered everything discussed in class thoroughly and he
was always willing to help when he was needed. He was very receptive to his students and made the class a
lot more understandable.
Terrance was a great lab instructor. He consistently explained concepts in a manner that clarified them. He
was also very receptive to students outside of class, helping us form plans for our study groups outside of
class.
Terrance was definitely a big helper when it came to webassign problems. He even replies fast when you
send him an email.
Terrance was extremely helpful and was there for anyone who needed his help in and out of the classroom

I am not very good at math and he explained the material in a way I could understand it.
Good teacher, obviously likes math (someone has to) and puts students needs as a priority to him. Very
good guy to have helping you. weakness: so dang cheerful about calculus equations :)

instructor would outline previous chapter as we would begin the next chapter. Helped reinforce material.
Was very responsive, could have better explanations from the problems.
It was easy for my since I took AP Calculus last year but it really helped me develop my basics.
I really felt as though I learned more in lab with Terrance than I did in class with the actual instructor
because Terrance went at a slower pace and explained things in a manner which was easier to learn.

Terrance was very willing to help outside of class when needed. In lab he explained the material well and was always
receptive to student's questions. He was always very clear about the material and was able to reexplain things when or
if it wasn't clear enough in class. He knows exactly what he's talking about with the information and was able to
convey it to the students. He is a great instructor.

Terrance was an excellent SI. He was patient, and very knowlegable. He had stayed after class numerous times to help
me with problems I had. Great attitude!
If i didnt understand the material in class, terance made it very easy to understand after going over it in lab. He took us
step by step thru problems we didnt undestand.
I was very glad to have Terrance as a lab TA; I almost wish he were the course instructor! He was very friendly, and
very helpful on clearing up any problems we may have had during class. He always made sure to help us on any
webassign problems we had, and would make sure to answer any questions we may have had. Even when we didn't
have any specific questions, Terrance always had a lesson planned out that would eventually help us with our
homework, or on an upcoming tests. I have no complaints!
Hell yes pendleton, keep on rockin' it. Unfortunately i never really went to the labs, out of laziness, but in class you
were great help. You made explaining tough questions seem easy, without you leaving and me feeling stupid
afterwards. You too were funny in class and i enjoyed it. That class when you taught was very helpful and you took
over as if you had been teaching it from the start in which i was very relieved. You did awesome and have a good
christmas (I didnt put that in Ms. Race's thing, so tell her some anonymous fellow says merry christmas too)
He explained easier ways for me to learn the material, I appriciate the time he took to explain things.

At first, I thought the lab was going to be a waste of time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was the complete
opposite. While Shaina was an excellent instructor for the main 131 course, having the weekly lab sessions really
helped out on just driving the main points home.
It was great
If the lab were longer, It would help me to achieve a higher understanding of ALL of the material.
This lab was very relaxed and interactive, but I learned a lot overall.

I think the labs really helped to explain what we go over in class in a way that is not overly hard.

Terrance had no weaknesses, he actually did a better job in explaining things compared to the instructor.
Terrance did a very good job as the teacher's assistant. Assignments and tests were always returned

The exams given out were great. There were no surprises. The homework was sometimes challenging, but
Terrance would help us understand problems similar to the webassign.
It was good in helping me clear things up that I didn't understand
Labs were efficient. They were useful at times right before tests.
I loved how it was optional to go to. It worked out great because if a student is doing fine and is
understanding everything, it is pointless for him/her to go to lab, since lab is just to review what has
already been covered in class.
The course was overall excellent!
