• Agronomy Career Day – DuPont Pioneer Research Center, Marion
Come experience a day of learning how careers in agriculture have an impact on the future of feeding the world. You will understand the educational requirements needed in the fields of plant breeding, agronomy, crop physiology, sales, etc. You will also learn about our cutting-edge product developments from research to creating a final hybrid. If you are interested in biology, agronomy, sales, research or management etc. this would be a great opportunity for you to experience.
• Veterinary Science Day – Kirkwood Cedar Rapids Campus
A group of students at the Kirkwood Animal Health Technology building
will meet with you to explain this program. You will speak with a veterinarian,
and have the opportunity to visit the examining rooms and see what they do with the animals.

• Exploring Entrepreneurship Day – University of Iowa
Join the staff from Theatre Cedar Rapids for a two-hour ‘Introduction to the Theatre’. You will receive a “behind the scenes” tour of TCR and a brief
overview of the careers within the theatre.
Innovation can occur in any career. If you are interested in starting your own business or learning more about the “entrepreneurial mindset”, come discover what it takes to prepare for success in the worlds of business and entrepreneur-
ship. Students will have hands-on activities to learn more about a variety of tools used to innovate, problem solve and create new business opportunities.

• Architecture and Engineering Day – Shive-Hattery Architecture and Engineering, Cedar Rapids
If you are interested in designing buildings, roadways, site development, or the
utility infrastructure to support them, this group day is for you. You, alongside a
group of other students, will get an opportunity to explore architecture and
engineering related careers which includes: civil engineering, landscape
architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical
engineering, environmental engineering, architecture and surveying by utilizing
3D scanning. Space is limited.
• Biomedical Engineering – Manufacturing, Kalona
Learn about biomedical, industrial, manufacturing, quality and design engineering
from a cutting edge company. You will take a tour of their manufacturing plant,
learn how they design new products using CAD and do some problem solving of
your own. This event is in Kalona and will be limited to 10 students.
• Construction Welding Day – Cedar Rapids
Test your skill at virtual welding. Learn about careers within the construction
welding field. Men and women welders are needed for sheet metal workers, iron
workers and plumbers and pipefitters. Apprenticeships are tuition-free and “earn
while you learn” training programs.
• Engineering and Machining Careers in Advanced Manufacturing – Cedar Rapids
See the process of design development and production in careers in design
engineering, manufacturing engineering, project management and CNC
machining. Local advanced manufacturing firm will host students to learn about
one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand career fields in the Corridor.
• Exploring Engineering Day – Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids
This group day is perfect if you are interested in engineering but not sure which discipline. You, alongside a small group of students, will get an opportunity to explore engineering careers at Rockwell which may include: mechanical, software, aerospace/systems and engineering project management. Rockwell Collins’ employees will be leading hands-on engineering activities to help inspire you into an engineering field and will lead candid discussions about engineering aspects at different points in their careers. Come experience a tour of areas within Rockwell Collins that are not normally open to the public.
• Skilled Trades Day – Iowa City
You will spend the day touring different work sites under construction as well as
building trades apprenticeship training centers. Examples of careers include
carpenter, electrician, sheet metal worker, plumber, steam fitter, roofer, iron
worker, painter, glazier, brick layer and cement mason. You will be given
information about various apprenticeship programs available. Building trades apprenticeships are tuition free and “earn while you learn” training programs.

• Athletics Career Day – University of Iowa
• Genetics – University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
Do you have a passion for sports and athletics? Learn more about careers in athletics such as coaching, sports marketing and athletic training to name a few. This event will be held in Spring only.
Learn about the latest studies of human gene-environment interactions with an interactive presentation. A genetic counselor will explain the different types of genetic disorders and discuss the many possible careers in genetics.

Hospitals and Clinics
You will learn how a Child Life Specialist helps children cope with their medical experiences. A tour will also be provided of the Center for Disabilities and Development where you will learn about identifying and providing services for children with disabilities.
• FBI Career Day – Cedar Rapids
Come investigate how to embark on a career path with the FBI. The Federal Bureau of Investigation hires professionals in several criminal justice specialties. Careers in the FBI can include such roles as special agent, special agent linguist, Hostage Rescue Team member and intelligence analyst. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment of FBI special agents and intelligence analysts will grow rapidly in coming years. Competition for FBI jobs will be strong.

Professionals in a variety of legal fields i.e., attorney, paralegal, court reporting and judge will tell you all you need to know about their careers and provide time for questions.
• Mental Health Career Day – Human Services Campus, Cedar Rapids
Are you interested in helping people live better lives? You will participate in interactive activities that will help you understand the number of occupations in
this field. Individuals in the career fields of social work, counseling and psychology will participate.
• Mini Police Academy Day – Cedar Rapids, Marion, Coralville
You will get a tour of the facility and learn about a variety of careers in law enforcement.
• Social Work Day – Systems Unlimited, Iowa City
If you are interested in a career in social work, case management and direct care through helping people with disabilities and other challenges navigate the legal, medical and day-to-day circumstances of life, you will want to attend this
event! You will hear from energetic Systems Unlimited staff including the Employment Systems Manager, Community Outreach Director, Counselors, Supported Living Manager, Family Systems Director and more. Then you will tour the facility and see first-hand some of the ways that SU engages their clientele.

If you are interested in attending medical school, this is the event for you! You will learn about what a medical student may experience from current medical students in training at UIHC.
• Pathology – University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
Come learn about the role of a pathologist and a clinic laboratory scientist. You will participate in a mock lab and receive a brief tour of the core chemistry/
thematology labs at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
• Physician Assistant – University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
Come learn more about the fastest growing profession in healthcare, becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). The interactive session will explore the PA role in healthcare and explain the fundamental difference from becoming a physician. You will learn hands on skills all PA’s must know such as suturing, casting and/or splinting as part of our interactive group experience.
• Health Careers Day – Linn County Regional Center, Hiawatha
Interested working in healthcare but not sure what specific career? Come learn about health careers in patient care (nursing/CNA), physical therapy, occupational therapy, EMT, and pharmacy. You will learn about these careers and have hands-on activities. Please note this event will be held in January 2016.
• Research Scientist Day – University of Iowa Hospitals
and Clinics
You will gain an understanding of the science that fuels researchers to find cures
for disease and help individuals live healthy lives. Learn how biomedical
researchers explore the science that drives constant discovery through engagement with microscopes and many more biomedical devices in a real
U of I laboratory.
• Surgical Tech Day – Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids
Come learn the proper way to scrub for surgery, practice suturing, learn how to operate the da Vinci Robot, and more! You will have hands-on activities and learn about the variety of careers in this area. Please note this event will be held in the morning on a Saturday in February 2016.
