How this works: Apply online. Choose an Exploration Day or Career Choice to job shadow. An Exploration Day is an overview of a career field
involving several specialties. It’s a great place to start if you are unsure of which career field you’d like to explore! An Exploration Day is a group
job shadow and almost always has a hands-on component. Career Choices are more specific and may not be hands-on. Careers with a flame
symbol are Hot Jobs that are in-demand in the Corridor area, determined by our area economic development organizations. If the career you
are most interested in is not listed, choose the miscellaneous option listed in that career field pathway and complete the special request area so
we can follow-up. Job shadow requests in miscellaneous without the special request completed will not be eligible for placement.

You will learn about the field of biomedical engineering and the education it takes to pursue this field. You will tour the College of Engineering and
speak to professors of biomedical engineering.
• Construction Welding Day – Cedar Rapids
Test your skill at virtual welding. Learn about a variety of careers within the Construction Welding field. Men and women welders are needed for Sheet Metal Workers, Iron Workers, and Plumbers & Pipefitters. Apprenticeships are tuition free and “earn while you learn” training programs. • Engineering and Machining Careers in Advanced Manufacturing – Cedar Rapids
See the process of design development and production in careers in Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management and CNC Machining. A local Advanced Manufacturing firm will host students to
learn about one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand career fields
in the Corridor.
• Exploring Engineering Day at Rockwell Collins - Cedar Rapids
Check out engineering at Rockwell Collins! This group day is perfect if you
are interested in engineering but not sure which discipline. You, along with a
small group of other students, will get an opportunity to explore engineering careers which may include: mechanical, software, aerospace/systems, and engineering project management. Rockwell Collins’ employees will be leading hands-on engineering activities to help inspire you into an engineering field and will lead candid discussions about engineering aspects at different points in their careers. Come experience a tour of areas within Rockwell Collins that are not normally open to the public.
Do you have a passion for sports and athletics? Learn more about careers in athletics such as coaching, sports marketing and athletic training to name a few.
• FBI Career Day – Cedar Rapids
Come investigate how to embark on a career path with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI hires professionals in several criminal justice specialties, such as Special Agent, Special Agent Linguist, Hostage Rescue Team member and Intelligence Analyst.
