Baryon spectroscopy with spatially improved quark sources Presenter: Christian Hagen Tommy Burch, Christof Gattringer, Leonid Ya. Glozman, Christian Hagen, Dieter Hierl, Richard Kleindl, Christian B. Lang, Andreas Schäfer Abstract: We study baryons on the lattice with a special focus on excited states. For that purpose we constructed several interpolators which differ in their Dirac structure. These interpolators are built from Jacobi smeared quark sources with different widths to construct operators with improved spatial wave functions. We then calculate all cross correlations and use the variational method to determine which combinations of operators have best overlap with ground and excited states. Our approach yields promising results for the spin− 21 baryons nucleon, Σ, Ξ and Λ. For the spin- 32 baryons ∆ and Ω, we obtain results which are consistent with results of other groups. 1
