LAW4805 Mooting & Advocacy Competition 2016 Application and Unit Overview The handbook entry with more information, including the assessment regime, is available here: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2016handbooks/units/LAW4805.html Because every student will be part of a mooting team, places in this unit are strictly limited. Students will be chosen in a competitive application process. Applications are open to all students currently in their second or subsequent year of their law degree. Preference will generally be given to later year students, although it is expected that some places will be offered to students earlier in their degree. Criteria for selection will include course progression, marks in completed units, experience or skill in mooting, debating or other advocacy. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to make a brief presentation to assist in selecting the final group. How to apply 1. Complete a hard copy of this application form (the 3 pages following this page). 2. Email a copy of your completed application to the Law Faculty’s Mooting Administrative Officer (Ms Trudi Gilmore - trudi.gilmore@monash.edu) as soon as possible. The last day for making a submission is Friday 18 March, 2016 (by 4pm). 3. Students will be admitted to the unit, on a first come basis, subject to their application being approved by the unit’s Chief Examiner (Rowena Cantley-Smith). 4. Include the following documents in your application: a. A copy of your most recent marks. A scanned printout or screenshot from the online system will do – it need not be an official transcript; and b. A summary CV (max 3 pages) that covers any information not already covered in the application form, which you think is relevant. Depending on the number of applicants, it may be necessary to have a further exercise to select the final list of students. Shortlisted applicants will be advised if this is the case. 1 LAW4805 Mooting & Advocacy Competition 2016 Application Form Name: Course (eg BA/LLB; JD): Year of law degree (eg 3rd year): Year law degree will be completed: Email: Phone: I have completed, or will have completed by the end of semester 2, 2016: LAW 1100 or 1101 LAW 1102 or 1104 Other Units, Research, Other Experience My other units in Semester 1 and 2, 2016 and summer semester 2016-16 are: SEM 1 2016 SEM 2 2016 SUMMER 2016-2017 I have completed research assignments in the following subjects: SUBJECT NAME 2 ASSIGNMENT Word limit Mark LAW4805 Mooting & Advocacy Competition 2016 I have the following advocacy / mooting / public speaking / debating experience: APPLICANTS NEED TO TAKE NOTE OF POTENTIAL COMPETITION DATES, WHICH MAY FALL OUTSIDE SEMESTER DATES, AND WEEKDAYS.
