Dear Springbok Puzzler:
Thank you for attempting to solve Rubik’s™ Royal Brain Teaser. You’ve
taken on a great challenge; we admire your sense of adventure. Yet if you
still haven’t solved the puzzle, here are some basic features you’ll need
to know about.
There are two overlapping sequences of gems that repeat throughout the
puzzle, one of color and one of shape.
Color sequence:
3 yellow – 2 blue – 1 red – 3 yellow –
2 blue – 1 red, etc.
Shape sequence:
3 rectangular – 2 oval – 1 rectangular –
3 oval – 2 rectangular – 1 oval, etc.
To make this royal challenge even more curious, Mr. Rubik randomly
scattered 20 clear “reversing gems” throughout the chain, which are either
oval or rectangular in shape. When the clear oval gem appears, the shape
sequence reverses, and when the clear rectangular gem appears, the color
sequence reverses (as if mirroring itself).
Clear oval:
oval – rectangular – rectangular – clear oval
– rectangular – rectangular – oval, etc.
Clear rectangular: yellow – yellow – yellow – clear
rectangular – yellow – yellow – yellow, etc.
(Note: There are a few circumstances where “reversing gems” follow each
other. When they are of the same shape they cancel each other out.)
You may also refer to the box top for additional hints. The sporadic
placement of colored gems is accurate. You can use these as reference
points to figure out the sequences.
The logic challenge created by Erno Rubik is even further enhanced by the
fact that the majority of puzzle pieces look identical in shape. However,
there are slight variations. Yet like all Springbok puzzles, the right
piece fits perfectly.
Thanks again for buying Springbok and good luck!
