Introduction
GKN Aerospace Services Limited is an approved European Aviation Safety Agency
(EASA) Part 145 Maintenance Organisation and FAR 145 Repair station. Both approvals
are limited to ratings defined in the Maintenance Organisation Exposition MOE 1 and to an
approved capability list (this document).
2.
Purpose of Document
The purpose of this document is to list the types of aircraft components the above
organisation can maintain and return to service under its limited rating.
Only types of components listed in this document or agreed via the amendment procedure
will be returned to service with an Airworthiness Certificate/Approval Tag.
3.
Document Control/Approval
3.1
The issue and subsequent revisions of this Document will be recorded on the Issue
Status/Amendment record (para. 5). This will detail date of issue/revision, status of the
document and list any additions or amendments that have occurred.
All pages will carry the same issue number, therefore any amendment shall cause the up
issue of every page (this will include the frontispiece).
3.2
CAA Approval
The initial issue (1) will be agreed by the CAA (local office) and a letter received approving
the format and content prior to formal issue.
Future revisions will be in accordance with para. 4. Amendment to Capability List.
3.3
FAA Acceptance
The initial issue will be accepted by the FAA (London office) via formal acceptance letter.
Subsequent document issues will be sent to the FAA (London office) for acceptance.

SUBJECT: CAPABILITY ADDITION
1.0
Purpose
To detail the process of adding items to the Maintenance Capability List (MOE1A), ensuring
the facilities, capacity and technical data are available on site and the addition is within the
scope of approval.
2.0
Specific Responsibilities
Repair and Overhaul Manager
- Generates addition request form SP 7339 and details that the facilities, capacity and technical
documentation are on site in accordance with this procedure.
Quality Assurance Manager
- Verifies data accuracy contained on SP 7339 Form, obtains approval from the FAA, informing
CAA and updating and distributing the Capability List MOE1A.

PROCEDURE NOTES
1.
Item identified as not within present capability albeit considered to be within scope of
company’s capability.
Raise form SP 7339 and detail Aircraft make/type/Engine, ATA chapter and reference and item
description.
2&2A. Evaluate facilities and capacity required to repair item. If facilities and capacity are not
adequate and cannot be met, inform customer item cannot be repaired.
Annotate on SP 7339 that the facilities and capacity are adequate and detail any actions that
have been taken to achieve the requirements.
3.
Check that the relevant repair technical publications are on site and part of the Repair &
Overhaul documentation library.
3A.
When repair technical publications are not on site, obtain from the customer.
3B.
Verify authenticity/revision amendment status of repair data.
4.
Complete submission part of SP 7339 and forward to Quality Assurance Manager
5.
Quality Assurance Manager verifies submission is correct. Any
queries are routed to the applicant for clarification .
6.
Quality Assurance Manager E-mails the verified request (SP 7339) to the London FAA office
for appraisal.
7.
FAA appraises request and annotates SP7339 form and fax answer.
When request is not accepted, the Repair and Overhaul Cell inform customer that the repair
cannot be carried out.
8.
Quality Assurance Manager notifies the local CAA office.
Note: The CAA & FAA can request further information or audit to confirm that all the
requirements for the addition have been met.
9.
Maintenance Engineer receives completed SP7339 and incorporates a copy into repair route
pack (ref MP09 Maintenance survey and planning). This enables the Maintenance group to start
the repair process. Master copy of SP 7339 filed with MOE 1A Capability list until official
revision.
10.
The Quality Assurance Manager revises the Capability List MOE1A, submits each revision to
FAA for their formal approval. Post approval, Capability List distributed.
