NGFA Mtg: US Ethanol Surge Impacts Livestock Industry
CHICAGO (Dow Jones)--With domestic ethanol production set to more than
double within 18 months, the looming question is exactly what impact that
expansion may have on U.S. animal agriculture. "We've got enough plants that
have broken ground to fill the E-10 (10% ethanol blend) market on every gallon
of gasoline used in the U.S.," totaling about 140 billion gallons per year, said
John Lawrence, extension livestock economist at Iowa State University.
