Cattle Breeds: Cattlemen’s Boot Camp Set For December 18-19 At Iowa State
University
The American Angus Association®, Angus Foundation and Iowa State
University will conduct a Cattlemen’s Boot Camp, December 18-19 at Kildee
Hall on the Iowa State University Campus, Ames, Iowa. The Boot Camp is
open to all cattle producers and will overview the various segments of the beef
industry as well as gives perspective on emerging technologies.
This is the seventh Cattlemen’s Boot Camp sponsored by the Association and
Foundation. It is open to all cattle producers, but enrollment is limited, so
producers should sign up in advance.
“The Cattlemen’s Boot Camps are designed to be interactive sessions that will
benefit all cattle producers,” says Shelia Stannard, director of communications
and events for the Association. “Boot Camp is a great refresher course for longtime producers and gives beginners an insight to the industry.”
Iowa State University animal science professors, Association and Certified
Angus Beef LLC (CAB) staff will present the program. Small groups will be
formed to allow for more hands-on interaction.
The event is set to begin at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Kildee Hall on the Iowa
State Campus. The Boot Camp will conclude on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Following the Boot Camp, Association staff will offer an optional session about
specific Association processes and procedures for any member that wants to
participate.
Registration is just $75, which includes meals and materials for the Boot Camp.
Enrollment is limited, so sign up today, by contacting the Association for
registration materials.
Several hotels are located near campus. Two of those include the Best Western
University Park Inn at 515-296-2500, and the Holiday Inn Ames Conference
Center at 515-268-8808. Indicate that you are attending a University event to
check on special room rates.

Camp is planned for Washington State University, Pullman, Wash., on Jan. 3-4,
2008.
