Associated Press 10-31-07 Regents Consider Arming Campus Police IOWA CITY, Iowa , The Iowa Board of Regents is slated to consider arming campus police and naming rights for university buildings Wednesday. The board, which meets in Iowa City, is to consider a proposal to arm police at the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa as part of an overall security plan. A safety review was ordered after the campus shootings at Virginia Tech in April. The regents are also expected to consider changes in a policy dealing with naming university buildings. The issue surfaced after the College of Public Health at Iowa considered a $15 million gift to name the college for Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
