Civil rights awards luncheon slated
Iowa individuals and nonprofit/community organizations that have made
significant contributions in the area of civil rights in Iowa during the last two years
will be recognized at the 11th annual Friends of Iowa Civil Rights Inc. awards
luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Scheman Center on the campus of Iowa
State University in Ames as part of this year's Iowa's Mosaic statewide diversity
conference.
Individuals to be recognized this year for their significant contributions to civil
rights in Iowa are Sam Carbajal and Judy Haley Giesen. The nonprofits and
community organizations to be recognized are Des Moines Choral Society, Iowa
EXPORT Center of Excellence on Health Disparities and Planned Parenthood of
Greater Iowa.
