World Food Prize laureate to speak at ISU
Monkombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, the first World Food Prize laureate, will
present a seminar at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 1148 of the Gerdin Building
at Iowa State University. A reception will follow at 3 p.m.
Swaminathan's seminar is titled "From a Green to an Ever-green Revolution." A
plant geneticist, he helped produce rice and wheat varieties that yielded a higher
amount of grain and led to increased crop production in countries around the
world.
He will be at Iowa State to receive an honorary degree during the university's
commencement ceremony on Saturday.
