PADGETT Thursday Remnants: Photographic Thoughts on Modernism Laura Padgett is an internationally regarded photographer and academic. She has lectured extensively on Photography, Art Theory and Criticism, Film editing and Film History. She currently teaches Photography and Art History at Hochschule RheinMain in Wiesbaden, Germany. She has taught, lectured and given artist’s talks at many prominent universities worldwide including Bauhaus-University Weimar, Germany, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Cyprus University of Technology and Lebanese American University. Since the 1990s Laura J. Padgett has produced a complex body of photographic work. She exhibits widely, with solo shows every year since the early nineties, while also contributing to group exhibitions and film screenings throughout Europe. Ms. Padgett received a Masters in Art History and Aesthetics from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, studied Film and Photography at the Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main and received a Bachelors of Fine Art from Pratt Institute. Gluck is founder and principal of GLUCK+ located in NYC, a practice committed to crafting bold, innovative and conceptually unique architecture with real-world expertise. Consistently recognized in national and international design awards and publications, most work is constructed by the firm through their unique approach to Architect Led Design Build (ALDB). In 2014, Fast Company’s “World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Architecture” list included GLUCK+. The firm’s process is applied across diverse projects including residential, institutional, educational and recreational. Peter Gluck is a frequently invited guest lecturer and keynote speaker focusing on urban housing design and professional responsibility. He has authored the chapter on Architect Led Design Build (ALDB) in the current edition of the AIA Architects Handbook of Professional Practice. Gluck serves on the Board of Trustees at the East Harlem School, Auburn University Rural Studio Advisory Group and Board of Visitors for New Jersey Institute of Technology. Peter Gluck received both a BA and MA in Architecture from Yale. He has taught at Columbia and Yale schools of architecture and curated exhibitions at the MoMA in New York and the Milan Triennale. This lecture is worth 2 AIA/CES Learning Units. 4.12.16 Thursday ROGER DUFFY, FAIA Architecture in the Age of Collaboration Roger Duffy, a Design Partner in the New York office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), has led a diverse range of award-winning urban projects worldwide including academic and museum institutions, transportation hubs, residential, hospitality, and office projects. Mr. Duffy’s design process is characterized by experimentation, collaboration with both the client and design team and is known for his sensitive treatment of natural light and sustainability. A few of his more recent accomplishments are: the launching of SOM Journal ; Cornell Tech Master Plan’s treatment of reclaimed space on Roosevelt Island; University Center for the New School in NYC; Park Hotel in Hyderabad, India; Denver Union Station; and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal 2 in Mumbai, India. Mr. Duffy received a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon. He has served on the board of the Buell Center at Columbia and has lectured and taught at many institutions including: Columbia, Harvard, Netherlands Architectural Institute, Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania.
